Hi all. Anyone know of any reasonably priced fibreglass repair outfits in the area? My vx220 was subject to a bump and run in claremont road car park a few weeks ago which has split my front clam quite badly in a couple of places.
It's been to heaton park coachworks for an insurance job before, but this looks like it's coming out of my pocket so am hoping for somewhere a bit cheaper!

Cheers
Rich

I'd be interested to know too, as my VX220 has the imfamous bubbling clam issue and can't find anywhere near me that specialise in fibreglass repairs.

I can recommened either Heaton Park Coachworks (in Newcastle) or Falcon Performance (in Middlesbrough). Both have worked on my car and both have done a really good job.

If you goto either, tell them that Mark with the blue Honda'd Lotus recommended them to you.

A little bit further a-field but I have used SD Autotec near Boroughbridge. Superb job, quick turn around and reasonably priced.01423 329090

I approached Heaton Park a couple of years back and they told me they were getting out of fibreglass repairing and turned the job down without even seeing it. Ended up with Falcon who were not without issues (the repair was in a stressed area and it came back through the paint after a few weeks - they did remediate FOC but not perfectly).

I believe HHC use Trevor Hignett in Hexham. I haven't used him for glass but he did a cheap and cheerful wing repair on my BMW. I saw a few Tivs in the workshop when I was there.

I've found that final finishing leaves a lot to be desired whoever did the work, and a good mechanical polish was required to get rid of swirls in the new paint.

I would really reccomend Heaton Park coachworks, they are lotus approved therefore work on fibreglass all the time, and their work is perfect.
