Following on from the traffic warden bashing thread I think we should at least move onto the council.

I see they are planning to install traffic lights at the end of redheugh bridge where it meets Scotswood rd / St James Boulevard. Costing 2.5m and will disrupt traffic for six months. Imagine what its gonna be like when they're complete, traffic will be queueing all the way across the river.

Are they off their rocker!banghead

Yep read about this a few weeks ago. It'll be chaos. But then I know this because I know the people who look after the lights in town.... Scary! frown

I still think they don't drive, or like driving, and are probably on strict orders to make car journeys in the area as unpleasant as possible...

Slightly OT but just to make people aware yesterday they've installed 2 x Scameras on the metro crossing at Kingston Park.

someone really needs to ring the council and tell them if they really want to f##k it up they should have a few of those great traffic calming middle of the priority road junctions they have so wonderfully placed throughout the ne now...

a few people on here may know this about local council already, but each department is allocated a "budget" for a certain period of time..
if they dont use up that budget they loose it as it goes back into the central "pot" as it were.
Now I know for a fact that several departments make sure they use the whole of the budget rather than loose it ... or perhaps I should say "WASTE" the rest of the budget if they dont have anything ligitimate to use it on.
As an example how about a Granite worktop/kitchen/sink area for the office staff to use to make tea?
  1. to replace a perfectly servicable sink and formica top with absolutely no faults whatsoever other than being a few years old !!

Cheers for the heads up mate. I used to often go along that way, but I'm not sure I'll drive that way up in my Cupra R now, I'm not sure it would make it over those horrendous, unnessecary speed bumps further back down the road!
