I just wish they'd enforce it more in newcastle city centre, the throughput of traffic would double if it werent for all the supplier/delivery vans happily parked on double yellow lines causing everyone to need to move lanes.

I parked on a double yellow line and got a ticket?

Sorry, but people who can't park properly or are too lazy are a pet hate of mine.

Traffic Wardens are doing a job and enforcing the rules. As above, I just wish they would be more enforceful to stop people who think they are above the rules.

yes

They don't always get it right but generally speaking, yellow lines are there for a very good reason. It's hugely irritating when otherwise clear routes are partially blocked because somebody couldn't be bothered to park 100 yards round the corner. No sympathy I'm afraid.

I'm glad you got a ticket. Its double yellow lines, it means no parking at all. Not 'loading' or 15 minutes.

Our town centre gets full of people stopping for just a minute to get cash out etc, but it brings the place to a stop.

hmmm, so people are suggesting that the local council isnt putting double yellows basically everywhere to make sure people have to pay to park virtually anywhere these days ensuring a steady income...
I have fought the local council a few times and won - never for parking on double yellows, but parking incorrectly in an allocated bay (for approximately 5 mins as well I might add) .... as my truck was slightly too wide for the marked bay... which as it happened on both occasions was incorrectly marked on the road anyway....

No, people are suggesting that lazy people who can't be bothered to park in the bays you mention, but instead choose to park it like they stole it on double yellows, get parking tickets deservedly. You contested a ticket with a valid reason under a different set of circumstances. What's that got to do with anything?

The council are putting double yellows 'everywhere' because (a) There's no shortage of spacktards who'll gladly throw logic and sense out of the window whenever they see a patch of tarmac without it, and (b) it's a pain in the arse having to navigate around them when they do. Too many 'I'm alright, Jack' idiots around.

It's a shame they never go to Gosforth High Street or Shields Road in Byker, the amount of people parking on double yellows with their hazards on obstructing the flow of traffic drives me nuts. It's particularly bad in Gosforth during rush hour when the two northbound lanes become one as various stheads park on the road.

I agree that whilst wardens have a job to do its just typical that they seem to go in search of easy pickings and yet you never see them when you get cars parked up on mosley st blocking traffic for example. For example down near me by the Tyne pub its been made permit parking (a few years back) and you get the odd few people every other day parking there to chance it - you can guarantee down here the minute someone without a permit parks up a warden will pop out from behind the nearest lamp post! And whats with them going around in two's all the time! How many bleedin wardens does it take to ticket a car!

That whole stretch from the bottom of Westgate road to the 55 degrees north roundabout needs to be policed better, there are always delivery vans parked on double yellows blocking lanes at all times of the day, meaning traffic has to force its way into the next lane. Give them all tickets, or better still tow them away to the safety of the nearest police compound.

Its a bit like with coppers - go to the mean streets of Eldon square or the Metrocentre and theres loads of them going round in 2's - go to most of the rough areas of town or outskirts and you never see em!

I find the UK a ridiculous place to park, I've drove into medieval villages in the south of france parked outside of a restaurant, had a meal then drove back to the hotel/apartment. In some cases parking restrictions are a must but at times its very annoying up here when you have to park a million miles away from where you need to be.

I was trying to point out how ridiculous SOME (and I stress SOME) of the wardens are - hence posting regarding my own experiences.
I also know of many many places that have absolutely no problem had people parking there for as long as i can remember until about a year ago and never have caused obstruction to anyone which now have double yellows because they are obviously far too close to the councils tiny little car park which is always full now.. and costs a ridiculous fortune to park in.

In Newcastle city centre, there are often wardens around after midnight looking at the onstreet parking. Often around the gate area down to the bigg market.

Also Stowell st - used to sometime park there on a night if I was going out for a meal, wouldn't risk it now.
