I didn't jump the start, I was un-fairly pulled at the start and put to the back. I got my own back, after a spin at the start (cold tyres and over-enthuaism) I got back to 2nd place, If I hadn't spun near at the end I'd have been up to first as well
Pictures are here : www.stefancarlton.net/pictures.php?menu=picture&albumid=50 and results will follow later.
Must say I'm quite surprised I beat Ian (3rrt) and Tom (minimax). Best quote of the night came of Tom however (something like) "You drive like a Vicar on the roads, but on the track. I'm impressed"

I have to say considering I hadn't done it for 5 yrs and was certain I'd come last, 10th is not too bad - and I spun 3 times! I devised a neat trick for corners too, simply don't lift off and sliiiiiide it! huge fun but unfortunatly not the fastest way to drive.
and stefan, you truly can drive a kart very well!

Well Stefan, I'm impressed. Time now to show what you're worth in a car. Get yourself to Croft for a half day session and put those driving skills into your road car. I'll join you so you can have a ride along in mine.
I would truly love to take a car out on a track day, but there is a vast difference in driving a car you own on a track and someone elses kart...
I didn't have any concerns last time when I blew a kart up. If that was the Marlin I would be devastated (I'm already pretty miserable the clutch is shot, but moves are afoot to get that sorted).
I will take it one day, but need to be ready to accept it breaking before hand. I'll probably hire a car and take that before too long (like pwig did). All depends on the money.
Well done to Dan and Stefan and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Just getting my book of excuses out........now let me see........page 3 section r.....paragraph tt......ah yes.
I was carrying more balast than the entire field put together, (too many pies your honour), the throttle linkage would not open to full throttle, (as witnessed by the organisers who black flagged me during practice trying to fix it whilst driving with one hand), whilst in second place, the marshall came out with the chequered flag, so I backed off to let get back to the pits......wrong.....one more lap.
Lets do Middlesbrough next time in the twin engine karts ?
Great evening, thanks again.
Cheers,
Ian.

Ooo, the chance to reply
Nah, You didn't let two of us past you did let me pass with a wave, but I'd been catching you for some time (aka the whole race and I eventually got near you after 25mins )

Could change it to M'boro if more people want that, but I really am not too keen on the track there and I'd be letting someone else organise who lives nearer the place...
