Stag Night in the Toon
Discussion
Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice from members in the North East.
A friend is planning to hold his stag night in Newcastle and is asking where in Newcastle a group of possibly fifteen could spend the evening. I have suggested pubs around the Haymarket as that is the area I know, Sports Bar and Tiger Tiger etc.
Is there any other area that will do. Also what is the consensus about these hairy arsed Scots wearing the kilt. I have been told that most bars will not allow them in if wearing the kilt. Is this right?
Thanks in advance.
Andy..
Sorry forgot to mention this event will be in May.

The day is a fairly important piece of information as some places hold special student nights. I.e. avoid The Gate like the plague on a Wednesday as its "Sports Night" in Mood so the place is packed with self-important low IQ students...

If it was me I'd go to:
Crown Posada - One of the last good 'pubs' in the town centre.
Tokyo Bar - Bit pretentious but full of decent totty and the Mohitos are great.
The Lodge - Cheap, cheeful, chavvy, fun.
World Head Quarters - Twice as good as any other club in Newcastle, and half the price.
Just split up from your group when going in to each place and try and tag a few girls along to make it look like a mixed group - simples.
Cheers,
Rob.

I'd imagine most cities wouldn't be too keen on groups of stags, especially if you are making it obvious - kilts etc
Good point, Newcastle is quite a popular place for stag do's which generally aren't too bad but if you're all in kilts/dressed up you may have problems getting into places. I went out with a few people from work just before Christmas and wasn't allowed in to a few (more high end) bars in Newcastle city centre because I was wearing trainers...I was only wearing them due to the 3 inches of snow on the ground and not wanting to end up on my arse every few steps!Liquid / Envy is a good club (at least it was last time I was in there), nice clean white decor, decent lasses, some slags though, at least it's light enough to get a good gander at what you are dancing with, but as it's a stag do this might not be a problem. You won't get in with kilts on though. On the plus side, it's about two minutes walk from For Your Eyes Only, so once you are finished in Liquid you can roll straight into a strip club and kick back on the plush leather sofas and watch the bums jiggle.
Avoid the quayside and Osborne Road.
Try Bar at the Brandling in Jesmond, which is between the city centre and Osborne Road. It's a trendy bar-style pub with a nice mix of local people. The food's also of a decent restaurant standard but with pub prices.
