Is there anywhere good locally, or even a PHer who can perform a good waxoyl job, as the E36 is known for its potential rust issues, and i'd obviously like to nip this in the bud before it ever gets too bad as my intention is I'd like to keep the car at least 2 - 3 years.

Cheers smile

I got my Monaro Waxoyled and fully undersealed at Waxworks in Morpeth. The guy's name is Simon, he did a great and very thorough job stripping the car down and injecting the wax everywhere. It still stinks over two months later!

You get a free check-up every year for three years too.

Just had my LWB defender done. very comprehensive, thorough and proper job. £370.

I left it with him at 8AM and he was still working on it at 5.30pm.

at least 30 litres of waxoyl went on / under / inside it

Only 1 car per day is worked on.

Top job without any of the bullst advertising of Rustmaster / before and after etc.

Tyrepower Too in Hartlepool do a full Schultz under seal on any vehicle for £100. They have done my Defender and two TVR's and cant fault the job. Ring them 01429 274761 or the boss who runs Tees Valley region of the TVR club 07764502164.

100 quid or so seems easier to stomach, I certainly don't doubt the workmanship of the others though, keep the suggestions coming smile

Anyone else had their car done ready for this winter? Waxworkz website looks impressive but place in Hartlepool sounds very good value - my car is only going to venture out on the nicest of days but I wouldn't begrudge £100 or so if it is going to protect the underside. Any idea how long the place in Hartlepool take - full day?

Thanks.

Why not do it yourself ??

Purchase the waxoil, and then pay a visit to 'Spanner it'. They have all the equipment and space to do it.

Worth a phone call .............??

Out of interest, what's the comparison between paying someone, to getting the stuff and the cost of a bay for the length of time it will take? Cheaper than 100 quid?

Hexham Horseless Carriages should be able to recommend a good place to get it done. As a TVR specialist I'm sure they'll know a competent garage locally.

Simon at the waxworks in Morpeth is the best around by far.

he proved last week that their is such a thing as a free Lunch. I had my 2007 110 XS done in November last year. I rang him and booked it in for its free top up this year. I actually dropped it off with him and when I got it back everything had been washed down, dried, prepped than all the areas re-checked and re-coated as required.

Their simply isn't anywhere that does such a good job without any of the "Before-N-After" bullst. Quite frankly last year I witnessed 6 number 5 Litre tins of black and Clear go on the car and this year a good Tin of Black must have been used. now after forking out £370 quid and seeing how much product is used...if anyone really is stupid enough to want to piss about getting filthy on their back to save £200 then good luck.

But do yourself a favour. go and see how a proper professional does his work. Awesome.

I am hoping to get the morgan booked in with waxworks over the next few weeks, they seem to come highly recommended.

Aren't you better with that injection spray that protects against wood boring weevil and deathwatch! hehe

I've never heard of this Waxworks place but I will have to get in touch ASAP, I've been meaning to get a coat of protection for my car this year.

Waxoyl x 5 litre tin = £33 from Halfords ( so their website tells me).

The spanner-it bays, or the four poster lift - see their website for prices per hour. ( 15-20 quid)

I'm sure you could do it for £100.

They can order your equipment for you, (some discount !!), so you will just need to turn up and do the work.

Like I say.....................the price of a phone call may be worth your while.

If you hire a bay there's not a hope in hell of doing it less than £100. In fact I would hazard a guess that you couldn't even buy enough waxoyl and preferred applicator for less than £100, then there's the cleaning down and up hehe and your time. Added to the fact it's a dirty crap job the figures just don't stack up for a diy job imho.

You are also missing out possibly the most important step.

The THOROUGH pressure / steam cleaning of the crap off the underside of the car, in all the nooks / crannies.
The wire brushing and such of crud and drying BEFORE even thinking of spraying around the Waxoyl.

All in all it should take 2 days to do a proper job.

Its a st job, and I am sure Spanner it would not thank you (nor the other car owners who will also receive the Waxoyl Overspray) for taking it to thir facility.
Agreed. I've taken a day to it it on a freshly welded, sorted, repainted Mini.
