A66 Closed between Brough and Middleton?

I need to get across to Cumbria in the morning. When the snow gates are closed (as they currently still are) is the t.off for the A685 after the gates or before? My thinking is that I can detour to the M6 and up. Anybody done/doing this travelling east from Scotch corner by any chance?

If this isn't feasible I'll do the A69 over the top but it's a real pain most of the time.

I have to drive to Carlisle in the morning from Darlington.

Looking at the highways agency website i can no longer see any indication the A66 is closed??

It reopened this afternoon apparently, heard it on the radio.
