Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with PDT in Boldon?

I was thinking of taking the Chim there to have the timing set up and have a power run...just to see how it is performing...and to see if it is possible to squeeze a bit more out of it!

Or are there any PH'ers who are **** hot at setting the timing on a V8?

Cheers

Andy

Not personally had any experience, but you may find this thread useful

Far as I know PDT were V Sport in the past, which got a bit messy on here a few year ago, but it was mostly down to one individual who has since moved on.

Hmmmm...might pay for me to go down there and have a look.
Running a TVR with no air flow is going to cause it to heat up very quickly...!

I wouldn't bother with PDT/V-Sport, had nothing but bother with them... Motorscope is the only place like that whom will be touching my cars.

i have been to pdtuning a few times now, and never had a problem with them, nice set of guys and they looked after my car. and whats all this garbage about a tiny fan they use with their dyno? the main fan was big, and they used a smaller fan closer to my intercooler.

so i definitely would recommend them, and also xopower who are in cramlington now, like someone else says they specialise in jap cars, but gunther is a top bloke and knows his stuff

They (pdt) have tuned many of my cars and family and friends cars over the years, always been very happy with customer service and quality of work.

Always a few high spec motors in when I go, was an AMG 6.3 on the dyno last time being mapped, sounded awesome!

Not sure where the 'small fan' reference comes from, the dyno is like a wind tunnel! As for Motoscope in Northallerton, was there recently on a rolling road open day type thing, power figures were stupidly high, wasnt impressed with some of the advice given either to car owners by the operator.

But its swings and roundabouts, Jamz likes the place I dont rate that highly and vice versa, pay your tuner a visit and make your own mind up.

Have you checked mcdonald racing in durham? Havent been there for years, may not still be there but used to go there with my old carb'd engines but dont think they are too knowledgeable with newer stuff?

2 years ago I had performace cams, decat and rempap by v-sport and 2 weeks after I had that done the timing belt snapped and pop went the engine.

Even though all belts etc were changed I was told "its one of them things" and was charged £1400 for a replacement engine fitted.

Would avoid them like the plague unless they have changed hands recently.

Why does that matter? Vsport and PDT are 2 completely different companies. read the thread title, people arent asking about Vsport are they???

2 tuning companies right next to each other in Boldon went bust at the same time (Vsport and robert shaw racing) not sure if they were connected?

Well, i know paul quite well (owner of PDT) and he bought the premises back in 2008 after vsport had gone bust, some of the staff stayed on but you are incorrect about the business being the same owners Jamz,

Regardless, You like Motoscope (that I wouldnt touch with a bargepole after countless bad experiences by me and my friends) and not much will change that it seems so horses for courses I guess.

Adam.

Seems I have been wrongly informed then - possibly saw the same faces and put two and two together... my fault entirely, will hold any previous judgements.

Sorry guys, but I have dealt with the owner of VSport, and the owner of PDTuning, and can confirm that he is very much the same person.

I even dealt with him during the "name change" and he gave me his version on why the name change was needed, so it is the same guy.

Had my leon remapped at PDTuning, lots of waiting around as he was doing two cars at a time, both giving him trouble, he had to remove the ecu's on both of them, to be fair tho we got there in the end and seemed to know his stuff, nice golf aswell.

I got my dad's Range Rover remapped by TDE Motors in Chester-Le-Street. He came out to the house as it was more convenient and did an excellent job, he's an agent for E-Maps IIRC and the map was bespoke for the car and how it ran. Really happy with the results and the service compared to others we'd looked at.

Going to get the wife's car done too once she's decided whether she's keeping it or changing it!
