Long shot.... BIG favour needed Good Friday
Discussion
I'm in Teesside but need some help looking at a car in Edinburgh on Good Friday. The plan is to get to Edinburgh for about 11am. Given the traffic, probably a 7ish start.
As I don't know one end of the car from the other, I need someone who can give it a thorough once-over and give me a YES/NO recommendation.
I'd normally drag a mate along but it is likely he is busy all weekend.
Suitable beer tokens to be sorted.
If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful.
Cheers

I guess you're looking at a Saab Volvo Audi or the like. Not that much I could add to the comments you have on the other thread.
Make sure it's straight
Check under carpets for repair work
Oil cap emulsion
Ask that the engine be cold when you get there (that way you know it hasn't got hidden cold running problems and you get the chance to watch the exhaust through a cold start)
Check condition of flexible hoses (water & brake)
Look at the brake disks especially the rear for rust that indicates failed calliper and wear which indicates poor servicing
Check the condition of the headlining, this is something often missed when buying a second hand car and damage can be pricey to fix
Obvious document checks and if it's a lot of money to you then get an 'on the spot' HPI check

Had the car inspected on Thursday and it has had some previous repair work. Extent unknown. Car is also pulling to the left and report siggested a full alignment check and check front suspection bushes.
This, and given that current owner has only had it for a month, I have decided to leave it alone.
Back to the drawing board. Again.
Thanks to everyone.
