Hi

A few of my friends and me are going to take a trip to Teesside autodrome on Saturday 4th September. It’s our first trip onto this little track, it should be a good night out and a nice change from getting boozed up or watching x factor!

Track time starts at 6pm and runs to 10pm. The track has floodlights for when darkness falls.

We are taking 2x 350’z, vx220 turbo, civic type r and the MNR (R1 powered kit car).

Anyone else going?

Hi,

Come on, get it on track. It sounds like its going to be quiet on track so plenty of space for everyone.

I'm very tempted and intend to do a few track days in the future. However, I feel as though I need to fit a baffled sump and an oil cooler first. Otherwise the car should be up to the job.

Don't laugh, but my Audi TT is a remapped 225 giving approximately 268 on the rollers (depends who's rollers you use. I've seen more that 268 on one occasion. It's a black art so far as I can tell). It's fitted with Brembo brakes, Ferodo DS2500 pads, Koni adjustable dampers, Eibach springs, Haldex upgrade, stiffer ARBs, Forge adjustable rear camber kit and I use Shell V-power with added Miller's Octane Plus always. The Audi TT is a little on the heavy side as you probably know.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I bought the car new in May 2000 so is now over 10 years old and that worries me slightly, although it has been looked after regardless of cost throughout that time.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Joe

Hi
Don't worry about the age of the car. It sounds like you have maintained it so it should be fine. It's time to enjoy it and on track is the best place to do that.
Teesside is near, not busy and cheap- a winning combo!

- the oil will be fine, top it up to max and let the car cool for 15 mins after a 10/15 min track session.

I'd recommend this to anyone. Great fun!
Not the fastest or best track but it doesnt take 3 or 4 hours to get there either. A nice relaxed atmosphere, although idiots wouldn't be tolerated.
Tim and Howard (ex-racers and still instructers) who run the events are good blokes and a wealth of knowledge.
I usually go to the Friday days. They're mega value when you consider breakfast and lunch are included, and a go-kart race at the end of the day! All for £99. You almost feel guilty. smile
Forget about the type of car you have or your experience level. There'll always be someone quicker than you and there'll always be someone slower than you.
Just enjoy!!

So, no need for a baffled sump or an oil cooler. I'm on Michelin PS2 tyres. Are they OK for track use?

Your car sounds like it's been built for the track along with the highly regarded ps2's, you have nothing to worry about.
It sounds like you are a trackday regular with yor setup!

Cheers. Looking forward to spectating and chat. I have a couple of things to check over before venturing on track, mainly to do with four wheel alignment. Is there anyone (four wheel alignment) you can recommend on Teesside?

Ooh, I hadn't seen this. I may have to come along as I have a new set of tyres to fit and could do with killing off the old set.

79 quid is a bit of a bargain and I haven't driven at Langbargh since it's become a proper track.

Do you need to book up first or can you just turn up and pay on the door so to speak. I have just had my 02 plate TVR Tuscan serviced and have received a pressie off the Mrs for a drivers day at Teeside autodrome (Lambo/Ferrari/Aston/etc) on the 28th September. I cant guarantee if I can get there on the 4th so I dont wish to pay and find I cant make it.

Hi,
I've always booked, but usually leave it until the day before (keeping a watchful eye on how many places are filling up!) so I can see what the weathers doing, etc. I'm guessing if you rang the organisers before hand and warned them you may show up on the day, they'd be fine, as long as there were spaces left. I very much doubt they'd keep you a space though if someone were to book that space properly.
I'm doing the September 10th one if I'm finished my rewiring job. Not going to be done by the 4th.

He tells me he is going on a romantic break with his woman so the M is all trackeded up with no driver!

I am not too fused about Silverstone, I'll squeeze a Cadwell Park TD in at some point if you fancy it?
