The viking raid run out was bloody expensive for me!!!
Discussion
Well after seeing and more so hearing the more exotic cars onn the run out i have gone and got silly ideas of getting a more exotic toy. Been and bought myself a vx220. Hopefully it will provide a relatively depreciation free bit of fun.
Its in good nick, 49000 miles and standard apart from a zorst and induxtion. The bloke i bought it off seemed a real enthusiast and assures me its never been crashed. the noise it makes is class. Now i need to start insurance shopping.

Got the car yesterday and put about 50 miles on it. Loving it so far,the girlfriend is off out in it now so i hope it comes back in one piece lol. Just a couple of questions i would like to ask of those more experienced.
1) Are all vx220 fuel gauges random number generators? the readings seem to fluctuate hugely during cornering.
2) the temperature control on the heater seems very stiff and only twists through about 45 degress instead of the 90 degrees indicated on the dial, is this normal?
3) i am sure the heater mod has been done on my car but on my 10 mile drive home last night i struggled to get any hot air out. Is it normal for it too take so long before puting a bit of heat out?

From my experience with the Elise, not quite the same, however.1) Are all vx220 fuel gauges random number generators? the readings seem to fluctuate hugely during cornering.

1. Yes fuel gauges go up/down a bit usually when vehicle is going up/down hill. Maybe because my gauge is a digital 'how many litres left' rather than a pointer on a dial, so its perhaps too accurate, and does vary depending on vehicle direction.
2. There is a known issue with the temperature dial on the Elise where it can stick at the half way point, ie either on the cold side, or on the hot side. Usually a bit of manipulation of the control behind the screenwash reservoir frees it up again, not sure if the same applies to the vx.
3. The heater on the Elise is not the best in general. At best it tends to take the chill off, and help demist the windscreen, but it certainly doesnt blast you with hot air like a normal car does.
cheers fellas, loving the drive so far, even if the exhaust sounds a bit mental for my usual taste.
just ordered my PH sticker for the back.
only things i need to do are-
1)tidy up a mark on the r/o/s where some cock has keyed it, in reality its not bad and you can only see if you are really looking
2)either repaint or powdercoat the side vents, after all its an 8yr old car and there looking a little tired.
3)maybe a wheel refurb at some point, again its 8 yrs old and whilst there not curbed very much at all the lacquer is peeling off in some places, maybe this would be an opportunity to get them black or a gun metal coulour? hmm?

If it hasn't gone down to the metal then it may polish or sand and polish out. If you want me to have a quick look at it and see whether it'll polish out then let me know.eldavo said:
