There I was at the side of the road with a dead engine half way between Allendale and Catton on saturday. No O2 reception so couldnt call home (had my young Niece with me) or the RAC and couldnt figure out why I had no sparks Grrrr...
Then "Russel" arrives and as an obvious TVR owner, wound down the window and says "you're letting the side down mate " hehe after sticking his head under the bonnet for a while he agrees there is no spark so it had better be the RAC and offers to take us to where I could get a signal, but ended up taking us a further 5 miles home so I can book the RAC, drop off the Niece and hang around before taking me back to the problem.

We had a further look at he could see the fuses were right mucky and started swapping the fuses around and then we saw a supply at the coil and she started !!! he followed me towards home and we met up with the RAC who followed me the rest of the way.

So a massive thanks to a fellow Tivver and apologies that with everything going on I didnt get your full name, but you know who you are smile

Thanks again mate, and as I said on saturday, I hope I never have to return the favour but definitely would if the need arose

Cheers mate, you are a star smile

K :grateful smiley:

Hello Kev.
Nice to see you got it home OK.

Not sure what we did to magically make it work again??

We swapped fuses about, all the carriers were a bit sloppy with some verdigris on the contacts. The fuel pum relay was given a few taps along with the hot start and engine run and that spurious 30 amp fuse holder.

It then magically started to work.

What seemed even more peculiar was the totally unexplained functioning of your multimeter which only began to work when the car regained powersmile

It was either stop and help or go home for a tarp to cover yet another Unreliable TVR hehe

Haha !!! there you are mate... thumbup

"verdigris" is latin for sh 1 te then ?

the 30 amp fuse that was swapped over from that purple fuseholder with the 30 amp one in the fusebox must be somehow implicated as when I got home I couldnt wind the window up until I put a new30 amp fuse in... the RAC man had a look when I got home and agreed it was most likely that fuse.

I've not had a chance to play with it since as the episode meant I was late starting the BBQ for our guests so I was in the doghouse already rolleyes

"unreliable TVR" ??? never, I prefer to blame the ford fusebox hehe

Thanks again for stopping and helping mate... VVV much appreciated.

I owe you a couple of pints

K wink
