Hey guys,

was driving down the A19 at lunch, coming off at thornaby exit.

saw 2ambulances and a helicopter coming into land. Went round the roundabout to and saw that it looks like a car rear ended someone. The person in front seemed to have a exoskeleton kit car on the back of a trailer (atom like)

crash looked quite serious as the back car's front end was crumpled.

Hope it was no one on here!

What's happening out there, A19 north and southbound Portrack Flyover closed yesterday morning to clear an accident, southbound from the Parkway this morning closed from 7am 'till 1:30pm. Now this!

I see there’s a major incident at Gateshead A1 too, not expected to clear 'till 4pm

The air ambulance was landing as I was passing southbound, must have been the same time as yourself. I saw the car on the trailer - almost certainly an Atom - and a very badly smashed Clio, didnt look good at all for anyone who was inside it.

The incident was probably caused by the outside lane being closed for the road works at the next junction.

Portrack Flyover AGAIN!!!!

Managed to see the traffic backing up on the Parkway this morning before getting on, so turned around and got at Mandale. The worst part about commuting between Middlesbrough and Tyneside, especially on the A19, is the inadequacy of all the river crossings. They are always the bottlenecks. Of course.

I went round the roundabout above it to get a better view, could only see it was an exoskeleton car, looked enough like an atom. Saw the smashed up clio.

Must have been the same time then, i was coming from the A66 side (not sure if thats northbound or south) Were you in the elise? as i'm sure i'd have spotted you (i love lotuses)

It does seem bad out there just now, past 4 days on the radio there has been major crashes reported.

Almost all the incidents on this stretch of the A19 are caused by arrogant b4stards tanking along in the outside lane until they get 100 yards from the exit they want, then carving across all three lanes to get where they HAVE to be.
Some are caused by people using the lefthand lane to undertake everything that's staying on the main through lanes, then cutting in, and sometimes they meet Mr Outsidelanearrsehole doing his thing. Portrack interchange is 1 mile as the crow flies from my house, the A19 is 100 yards away. I can tell there's been a shunt even before I get out of bed. Most days of the week, there is one.

The road was widened to three lanes to try and clear the bottleneck; it was paid for by Samsung (a bribe to the council) when they built on a greenfield site just up the road. The idea was that the lefthand lane was to keep local traffic out of the through traffic, but they didn't allow for those captains of industry to whom being two cars further on is so important rolleyes

The other great clart-up is where the A66 eastbound joins the A19 northbound up on the flyover: despite having a 3/4 mile lane over the river in which to merge, the traffic coming off the '66 and those wanting to be off at Portrack just HAVE to swap lanes RIGHT at the end of the slip lane. Phuckers. All they have to do is stay put for 30 seconds, indicate and move over. It's not bloody difficult.
