Spotted this on the way home from work, noted the GT Turbo bodykit on it so thought I'd get closer and have a better look.

Seems to have the GTT engine in it too - great fun little play with it on my otherwise dull commute home through east cramlington biggrin

Must be an excellent sleeper, it's burning a bit of oil so looks like a smoky diesel, but has a telltale turbo whine when booted! (plus the fact that it goes like a bd laugh

Exchanged a friendly wave when we reached civilization again.

Anyone know the owner? Saw signage for some Renault specialists or similar on the rear doors

it is a diesel, the renault specialists is located behind newcastle central station. The van belongs to one of the guys who works there, by all accounts it's very tuned. No smoke no poke!!

Jesus, it's fking quick for a diesel then! Owner's not scared of pedalling it either, had one rear wheel lock up under heavy braking before turn in - impressive little van smile

Ford themselves did it a few years ago as a publicity stunt.

A standard Connect TDCi handles surprisingly well, my new one has the 110PS engine but I reckon the older 90PS had better power delivery and was no slower. Prrof that you don't need to slow down for bends: my old van was sold at 128000 miles... still on its original discs biggrin
Clocked 118MPH (allegedly, in a dream wink) once it had 15000 on the clock but was never quite that fast afterwards for some reason... whistle

I've just sold my Connect and was suprised how handy it was in bends for a van, it had chinese hedgefinder tyres fitted on it though so the understeer was horrendous in the wet haha.
