Differential work - Ford 7.5" ratio swap
Discussion
Hi
I'm putting together an old(ish) TVR S2 for motorsport and have 2 diffs - one is the 3.64 LSD unit from a Granada Cosworth and the other is a 4.2 drom a 2ltr Granada
I need to marry them to produce an LSD with the 4.2 ratio - I'm looking for a decent place/person to carry out the swap (I would prefer to be shown/have someone to mentor me while I do it - but I think this may be difficult to organise)
I live in Teesside but willing to travel up to 100miles
Mick

I think you'd have to look very carefully at what you've got.
From memory (and it's been a long time since I last did a Sierra diff)there are different diameter crownwheels fitted to the range. The higher powered models were on 7 or 7.5 inch, whilst the lower powered models were on 6.5 or 6 inch. This would necessitate a different crownwheel carrier and therefore no swappy.

I'll see what turns up
I may have to have a rethink if they are different (7 and 71/2")
Just had the diff refurbished in the Cerb - asked on here for recommended 'local' companies and didnt get anything meaningful..?I'll see what turns up

I ended up sending it to a guy called 'Alan Voigts' - he advertises in the rear of the TVRCC monthly magazine (Sprint). They are based in Merseyside and the service and advice I got was top notch. I sent my diff off rather than travelled...not sure if you are prepared to do this with two diffs...especially if there is somw doubt as to whether it is possible to what you are thinking? Alan may be able to advise on your problem?
If you are interested this is his details...

Good luck.
Have you tried Fostek Engineering in Cramlington. Very well known in Ford circles.
