Evening All. I'm after a couple of parts for my car(boot lock and radiator) and a couple of friends need a few bits and pieces and being skint student types, we're reluctant to pay for new parts, so wondering where the best scrap yards are to have a wander round and salvage some parts?

For VW stuff go to Vee Dubs in Gateshead. They've got everything you could ever imagine, and its all well priced.

sounds old fashioned I know, but tried the Yellow Pages?
Yeah i've tried a few places, but they've not got the same model for the boot lock, and all of them seemed to have front end smashes, so the radiator was rendered useless.

ETA: The Yellow pages is online now, so not old fashioned smile

Marshalls down Newburn also has good variety but unless you know the guy on the desk, he literally makes prices up as he see's fit and as a result he's quite expensive. If your in that part of Town, you might as well try Pringles scrap yard which is just down the road from there.

Gosforth Autos is reasonably priced but only really stocks older cars so don't expect current models.

Theres also a good one by Royal quays but I've forgot their name.
