I was thinking the other day that we should try to organise a North East tunnel run sometime.

So where are the best tunnels in the North East?

The only ones I know of are:

- The Tyne Tunnel
- Cradlewell Tunnel
- The Tunnel at Brockbushes off the A69
- The underpass on the duel carriageway leading to the Tyne bridge

They're the only good ones I know of. If there were a few other good ones, we could do a midnight run out one weekend and make some glorious noise. Sound good?

Any other tunnels you can think of?

... those are the main ones, also a nice short tunnel leading from royal mail behind central station to the road that goes past the station (next to Robson Brown Advertising). Also dont underestimate multi-story car parks. laugh

Yeah I'd forgotten about the on by the station... Oh well, maybe Newcastle's not the best place for a tunnel run then!

The one next to the station is probably the best one as its long-ish. Problem with that one is its actually a taxi only tunnel so taxi's waiting to get into the station are often backed up.

I took a wrong turn wink and went through that one in the Exige last summer. around about the time the baffels had blown out the exhaust and it had a nasty habit of back firing even louder than normal. Unfortunalty (or fortunatly biggrin ) at the time a couple of young ladies were walking through with bags of shopping...one of them took cover against the wall and the other dropped the shopping and ran... I did feel guilty...

There are two, one which is used by taxis, and one a bit further along which joe public can use (abuse), not the longest in the world, but still sounds great.

Yep the one one right is too short. One on the left is the one I meant.

Think thats pretty much it in terms of tunnels...? There are a few underpasses that my Cerb sounds good in...theres one near the snowy owl pub road (near cramlington) that passes under the A1 and another round the back of the silverlink but they are quite short.

What about the central motorway in town where the south bound road (towards the tyne bridge) passes under the north bound? Not a tunnel but its quite enclosed...the Cerb pops and bangs its way through there and sounds great!
