Hi all,

My car is in desparate need of some half decent winter tyres, as the Goodyear Eagle F1's on it at present do not do snow. They are okay in wet and dry, but they dont have any lateral treads to act as paddles in the snow. Even more humourously, when reversing, the tread blocks do the opposite of shedding snow and instead just fill with packed snow and its like driving with slicks on.

I have been looking on various websites at tyres such as Toyo Snow Proxes and Nokian WR G2's in a 205/50/16 size.

Would anyone know if there is a stockist and fitter in the Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough or Durham area where I could get my mitts on these PDQ.

Thanks

Cheers

Marty

Hi Marty.

Have you tried blackcircles.com

I've used them in the past and they are pretty good. You can choose which tyre fitter you want to fit them and the tyres are rated to help you choose the tyres best suited for your needs.

I told my ex missus to use them and she printed off the quote from blackcircles, then went to Tyrespot on McMullen road (Darlington)and they beat the fully fitted price from blackcircles. (but I didn't tell you that)!!

Hope this helps

Nige'

Thanks Nige,

I have used Tyre Spot quite a few times over the past few years with no problems at all. They also put the stainless Powerflow exhaust system on my ST24 about 5 or 6 years ago. I just cant get any useful info off their website regarding tyre availability, hence the plea for help.

I'll try Blackcircles and then give Tyrespot a ring tomorrow. I just didnt want to wait for an end of next week delivery from an online seller, and then have to get them fited as well.

Cheers

Marty

Edit...just checked Blackcircles.com. They dont list winter tyres as far as I could make out.

Just checked on Camskill. No Toyo snow proxes (at least not 205/50/16) until Oct 2010. I guess its shop early for next Christmas...They dont have any others in this size either.

Colway Rally M+S 195/60/15's are £34.70 incl vat at tyremonkey
these are used by most clubman for rallying on loose wet tracks and snow although should really go narrower (155) for deep snow - car may look rediculous but will go well in these conditions (check out photographs from rally sweden)
