This would be tempting if I had a bigger garage and more spanners. Does it belong to anyone on here?

No idea - but it's not the only one in the North East - I know of two others at least.

My mate has a '76 Elite sat in his garage. It's been there for a while as the back of the chassis has collapsed. They all do that Sir; Lotus didn't galvanise their chassis back then.

If it hasn't been run for a while, don't try and start it before you change the cam belt. If it snaps you'll be needing a new engine and Lotus twincams don't come cheap.

The rear brakes are inboard drums and half the car has to come apart to work on them.

The windscreen has been removed; chances are it'll need new finishing trims which cost a bloody fortune. When my mate's broke, Auto Windscreens couldn't get the old one out without shagging the trims and in the end they had to pay for new ones.

The headlamps pods are vacuum-operated. If you're lucky the actuators will still work. If not, £££. Or you could drive around with the pods permanently up.

These cars are getting cheaper by the year...
