Hello all.

I'm looking for some info/input on this.

Mrs Tibs recently aquired her first BMW and indeed her first rear wheel drive car. Loves it to bits and all that so things are rosey. However, shortly after buying it, she also had her first accident, back end snapped round coming off an accident blackspot roundabout locally. This shook her up a bit but thankfully she was unhurt and the car repaired.

I'd like to get her a driving experience day that would teach her a few rwd basics and help with her driving in future, winter coming up and all that too.

Read the thread recently posted ref. advanced techniques but alot of the links from that are a bit too advanced and/or too expensive for me.

Looking at driving experiences avaiable at some of the circuits, they look fun and all that, but very little time seems to be spent in car (£200 for 4 laps in a Lambo etc) and I'm not too convinced she would gain from it, more a bit of excitement really.

Any ideas on this guys?

See Tim Arnold at one of his Teesside trackdays. £99 for the full day plus a kart race at the end smile

I'm sure he'll give some good tuition.

Obviously need to bring a car yourself though tongue out

Could just take her to a big old empty, wet car park and get her to throw the car around for a bit?

BTW, if you find a suitable one, let me know wink

Four of us from the the North East are doing a 'Walshy' day next week: www.carlimits.com This is highly recommended in the Lotus comunity.

Its a bit far to travel, so we are staying over one night. There is not much in our area, so you will have to travel.

My girlfriend did a ProDrive day when she bought her RX8 and really enjoyed it. They taught her how the car would handle in different situation (high speed course, skip pan, tight twisty course and on actual road). She learnt alot from the day.

I beleive there is a company that does driver training at Elvington: http://www.driverskills.com/

I don't know if they still do it but Durham Police were offering driver training on their skid pan last year - it was under £200 for a morning.

Those Ferrari exerience type things will teach you nothing about driving.

Infact the one we were on did teach you about under & over steer and how to correct it as well as controlling a car with the ABS kicking in, the ferrari, karts and buggies were in the afternoon when we could let our hair down
