My car is in need of a damn good clean, its a bit swirly and has some minor scratches on.

I dont really feel up for paying the £300ish that full-on detailers would charge, but am willing to pay a bit to get it looking a bit more presentable - besides it would never stay clean for long in my hands.

I dont really have the facilities to clean my car where I live now, and dont have any car cleaning accessories (usually just take the car to a handwashing place) so DIY is out... and besides, I am a lazy bugger smile

So any suggestions?

Paul,

There is a guy that comes to our office on Team Valley a lot. A few of my colleagues have used him and are very impressed. He was going to wash, machine polish and wax my whole car for £25 (not a typo!) but somebody pulled out in front of me the other day and it now needs a new front clam so I've kind of saved him a job!

Will dig out the number if you're interested.

Cheers Sean. Its going through Europa after numerous recommendations on here. I can't envisage any dispute of blame as its a fairly textbook accident. Frustrating though!

Paul, The guy I mentioned is:

Dave Young of Karshine
07866 532 040

Hope that helps.

Mike at The polishing company in Cramlington is very good. http://www.thepolishingcompany.com/

He does the full £300 jobs but is also more than happy to do a quick detail.

I got my GSI machine polished by him.

Paul - I thought you were skint mate!?!

Here's an alternative; spend £5 on a bottle of T-cut, come to my house and you can use the pressure washer, hoover etc and I've even got some rags you can use to polish it. That way you get a nice blast out along the military road, and save yourself some money too. thumbup

I think I just want the car to look nice... but then again am not prepared to spend loads doing it... but I always thought that T-Cut stuff wasnt up to much... maybe I aint using it right.

The more elbow greece you use the better it looks with T-Cut. I sware by it, it can do wonders if you out the effort in. The offer's still there anyhow!

My sister had her car done by Paul at Wonder Detail (www.wonderdetail.co.uk) and was over the moon with it. If you just want a tidy up he won't charge anywhere near £300. His van is awesome too! lol.

Cant be doing a very good job at that price... before i even machine polish my car, it needs wash and clay which will take about 2ish hours, and machine polishing the whole car takes a good 3 hours.

I think this was an introductory price to lure in new customers. Generally speaking a wash and wax seems to come in at around £20 for a small car using Dodo Juice wax.

Well now that my car is off to a bodyshop after being crashed into, I'm guessing it will probably (hopefully) come back better than ever smile

Well body shop has rang me and asked me to take it in to "see if its fixable".

So... I'm guessing they think (and I guess they've had a description of the damage from the ins. company) that it might not be economical to repair.

So... £4k for the car 3 months ago, well over £1k spent on it so far, and I'm now facing the possibility of it being written off possibly? Surely not? Nightmare if so.

Hopefully it'll not come to a write off but at least if it did, you could buy it back, get it cobbled back in to shape and pocket a handsome amount of change.#

Fingers crossed for you as well.
