I'm looking to buy a peaugot 107 automatic(tiptronic) to tow behind my motorhome....i've just been told you can't tow automatics with an a-frame...is that right?

Yes thats right you cant , you would have to lift the drive wheels

Front wheel drive, ....... you could use a "spectacle" type frame, but not an A-frame,....... the driven wheels would be supported on the frame. That would be your only option!

No you cannot use it for long distances... A-Frames are used to tow a car out of danger (which is why the AA use them, and these are totally illegal in other EU contrys.

If you are going to tow it behind your caravan, there are two options...
1. Trailer
2. Car a Tow System - http://www.caratow.com/

If the driving wheels aren't raised the gearbox will overheat and destroy itself...same on any auto. Usually 15 miles is quoted as the absolute max.
