Skimming discs
Discussion
Its a bit of a story. A couple of thousand miles ago I changed from OE pads to 1144 s, whilst keeping the same discs. What I hadn't realised at the time was that the OE ones were a slightly different shape to the Mintex. Now if you can use your imagination, picture how the disc would be worn with lips in certain places. Now put a new pad (with a slightly larger surface area) on the same disc and the pad will wear unevenly as it trys to bed itself to the shape of the disc. So I'm now left with uneven pads and discs. Luckily its only the inner face of both discs that have been affected and Al G has been able to help me with some spare 1144 s.
Thanks for the offer of the discs anyway Dan, but I think I've got things sorted - once I know where to get them skimmed.

I've used a little machine shop in Houghton, they do every thing including stripped spark plug threads, they did my merc rear discs for £30. They were working on a very small jet turbine engine to fit in a vehicle last time I was there. I have their address and number at work, so I'll repost on Monday.
