Wouldnt mind some suggestions of some pubs that sell tasty grub around here, as I'd like to try a different pub on a Sunday every week.

So far, I've discovered the Blue Bell in Stanley, the Highlander near Belsay and the Falcons Rest near Gosfoth Race Course as being good for food, but of course, I'd like more suggestions, so fire away! biggrin

Howdo fella

Our usuals for food are

Dyvells - Corbridge - good food, car friendly, owner is a top fellow PH'er bloke

Keelman - Newburn - good on a sunny day, great grounds and beer garden, nice walks along the river

Toby - Kingston Park - cracking sunday carvery with eat as much as you want vegies etc.

Taybarn - Gateshead - Eat as much as you want for a tenner or so, including italian, english, carvery, deserts. What it may lack in quality it makes up for in quantity, just make sure you've had nothing all day.

Enjoy !!

The Court Inn at Durham.

Great 'home cooked' food.

(Get in quick before the student masses arrive back in town !)

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm sure I will get round them all in due course. I will let you know what I think. Today is going to be "toby" I think for a nice carvery (cheers SeanyD)

Tried the Toby, but there was a massive waiting time today so we didnt bother.

Then by strange coincidence we tried the Lion & Lamb in Horsley, but they werent doing food by the time we got there...

So we went to the Swan at Heddon on the wall, carvery, very nice it was too smile

Glad you got sorted in the end!! I think the Lion and Lamb's last service is about 2ish and its usually a good idea to book as well. In fact I've just booked for next Sunday lick

Dog and Gun in Potto is worth the drive and surrounded by some lovely quiet roads to explore at random, the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge is also good and any excuse to drive past it the back to teesside via helmsley is always nice.

The Black Horse in Boldon is worth a go.I have not eaten in the Red Lion in Boldon for a while as it went down hill, but apparently Jamie and Russ have sorted things out again and its back to standard. These two are my locals so I can usually be found propping up the bar, or if I'm with Mrs GMan you will see my car parked outside.

Also The Rat at Anick was OK last time I went.
