Has anyone spotted these on the A1 near TVTE? Theres one South bound close to the bend, one North bound on the bank down from the Angel and another on the North bound slip road off the A1 to the Coal House roundabout.

Are there anymore I haven't seen? Are these active yet? Are they permanent or temporary? Whats going on with the godforsaken country? Answers on a postcard??

I think there are works due to start around there shortly so they could well just be temporary to enforce the works speed restriction.

Aye they are starting roadworks on that bend during the summer holidays :O

It was on the news a while back about the road works, as it will be down to one lane in both directions, so it should be fun getting down there at rush hour frown

Think there were talks or making that corner less steep (although its not very steep now)

So the roadworks we've had the last couple of weeks on the A1 by Washingon Services aren't the ones talked about earlier in the year? Damn! Think I'll have to go over the hills to get from Chester to Metrocentre.

I have it on good authority that the work will start on the 25th july and the southbound carriageway will be down to one lane for approx 24 days.Stengthning work on the railway bridge with a speed limit of 40mph enforced by speed cameras..

Its stupid... went down that up that way on Saturday and no one has a clue what to do!

Traffic started gathering back on the hill down towards the camera's, then people doing like 30mph past them (even though its clearly still 70mph as there are no signs up)

Once you get past the camera's everythings fine!

Bloody stupid!!

Nearly caused a few accidents with people just jamming their brakes on

If these things are actually real and working,I think a few people may be in for a surprise in the post soon, judging by the speed of some this evening.

I wondered why the 40MPH speed limit had started, since there doesn't seem to be any work being done yet, but I found out that it's because part of the central reservation has been removed in preparation for the main work starting Saturday. I've just been setting my cruise control to 40 and keeping left.

Too right some cars were just flying up the bowes incline.

So south bound the last spec camera is halfway up the incline, north bound the last spec camera is halfway on the team valley bridge as far i know unless some one knows different?

If the 40 signs are up and uncovered, it will be enforceable already so be careful!

Spotted a camera van on saltwell road today facing south, obvioulsy there to catch anyone using it as a rat-run to avoid the A1.

I saw those the other day. They looked rather permanent to me.
