Tunstall Court - West Hartlepool
Discussion
Thanks guys, found that Hartlepool mail link and hoping that this will be the case. i was worried that they may knock it down and replace with modern houses or flats piled on top of each other. I hope they retain as much as they can of the old place and leave all the trees. We have had an offer accepted on a place near there so just wanted to check on whats going on. I emailed the local council last week but in typical council fashion they have yet to reply.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

If anyone is interested, here is the reply i received from Hartlepool BC.
"With regard to your query (below) I can confirm that the local authority is creating a small, ‘country-park’ style parking area within the woodland clearing in order to encourage vehicle users to park there and not on the highway. This is intended to reduce the potential for any traffic incidents on Park Avenue as a result of the number of vehicles that are often found parking there. The local authority highways section are also intending to rationalise the Park Avenue/Parade junction in the near future in order to remove the large corner radius and discourage potentially dangerous corner-cutting. Both schemes are intended to improve visitor safety to the park, as a new section of footpath will allow for safer pedestrian crossing of the highway.
The car parking scheme went through the formal development control process in 2006 whereby the plans were available for scrutiny and public comment. It is probable that given the timescale that has since passed (whereby the authority was securing necessary funding, etc.), the previous/current owner would not think to inform you of the works. We have also recently received a number of queries regarding tree removal, with members of the public concerned that trees were being removed to accommodate the works. We explained that only a small number of trees were actually removed to accommodate the car park and that the other trees that were felled were removed on the advice of our arboricultural specialists utilising the scheme to undertake management works.
I have attached a PDF format of the drawing, which is also available on the Planning Portal website, under Hartlepool Borough Council, reference H/2006/0417. The layout is ultimately subject to the exact location of the remaining trees and root structures. The construction for the car parking area is a non-excavation method in order to protect existing tree roots and provide a free-draining gravel surface (supported by a load-bearing cellular-containment system). It is the local authority’s intention that the car park area is low-key and sympathetic to the surrounding area. The car park will also be fenced-off and locked in the evenings in accordance with the park’s management regime. It is not the intention to light the car park area is it was felt that this may encourage inappropriate after-hours use. During the next planting season (Nov 09 – Mar 10) it is also intended that new planting works will be undertaken in order to soften the car park visually and provide new habitat areas for wildlife, including the enhancement of the woodland understorey for low-level nesting birds"

Just as a matter of interest it stopped being called West Hartlepool in 1967, the only people I hear still calling it West are in their eighties now!
I personally think they will let the old place get distroyed by the vandals then knock it down as they have with the other great building that was behind the Whitehouse.
I must be old I went to school in Tunstall Court its a shame the place is wreaked now. lots of photos on 28 days later.
