Anyone been before? What's the kart's and track like?

I'm heading up there at half 5 tonight for some practice laps.

The one near Seaham/Ryhope? If so I ran a teambuilding even there for my IT lot a few years ago, great fun. Track is outdoor, cant remember the size but I'd guess 1:30-2:00 a lap. Karts were decent enough. Event was well organised with a trophy etc for the winner.

I came second last after driving as aggressively as I could, even getting beaten by some elderly biddies, clearly not the best approach to take. Doh.

I race my own kart there, and it is indeed a very good circuit. But 1:30-2:00 a lap haha, you must of been driving seriously bad, as from what i can remember the pace in a hire kart is 1:10 ish maybe a bit less. Not that I've been in the hire karts but I'm pretty sure it's about that, my kart however will do it in about 51 seconds. Hope you had a good time anyway.

Edit: A PH meet sounds like fun smile.

The best one round here IMO is Teeside Kart (Teeside Autodrome)

Its a massive track like... Kills you if you do the Iron man race (20 min warm up/qualify, 40 min race)

That was top fun. Had a half hour practice session and managed a best time of 108.884 biggrin

Track is pretty good aswell, 1st time i've ever done outdoor karting. Definitely up for some more.

Who'd all be up for a GP or Endurance race? Stick your name down.

- Rob F

Think it's about £35pp for the practice, heats and final with the trophies etc.

Says on my printout here the lap record for a hire kart is 1.07.054 so a bit off the pace i suppose.

I'm up for that smile

Jamz, I did the Ironman at Teeside, felt much better at the end compared to the 20mins I did at Thruxton! That was seriously hard work...

I'd be well up for a bit of karting action- went last week in Leeds and it made me remember how much I love it. I'm too heavy though so my lap times suffered.

Stick my name on the list- I can't do copy and paste from my phone...

When you planning this for?

I'd be up for it if work and moving house allow.

Karting North East. 1.03/4 a lap in the dry, 1.10 in the wet with the hire karts.

Sign me up for a race if it happens!

The iron man race is what made me realise I needed to get out more and become fit again. Heaviest fella there by about a stone and I still managed the fastest lap time and got pole for the race then finished 3rd biggrin

Hmm, I'll have to think about June, I've got 2 consecutive weekends away on Mini runs. One in the lakes and one in Scotland so it's not a cheap month for me.

If you have enough guys for that date I'll drop out. I'll get some cheeky laps of my own in somewhere lol.
