I know of one in Stockton, not sure if that would be too far away or not?
Are you thinking of Teesside Autotech? If so, I can recommend them; they've been good to me (and my cars) for about 4 years now. They're particularly good at telling you what something is going to cost, and sticking to it.

I was thinking of J&S BMW Specialists... Quoted me £70 for a full oil service on my old E Class Merc and stuck to it. Not bad considering the sump took something daft like 8 litres of oil!
I even got the stamp in the service book
Mine's coming up for an Insp. 1 and brake fluid change - might give them a shout. Thanks for the heads-up.I even got the stamp in the service book

I'm sure there is a one in tyneside somewhere but the name escapes me. Sorry that doesnt help.
Try Cliffs service station in grangetown opposite machine mart. I here they are good with BMW's and a friend takes his M3 there.
I can confirm cliffs are spot on its one of my dads mates garages, he has Henry Brace an ex BMW mill garage head mechanic working there. Try Cliffs service station in grangetown opposite machine mart. I here they are good with BMW's and a friend takes his M3 there.

Have a friend who has an oldish X5, and BMW are quoting £5500 for a new gearbox, when they are unsure if this is actually the problem. Can anyone recommend a decent indie in the area who will give an honest opinion without taking eyes out of sockets. Thanks
if its a gearbox issue take it to a gearbox specialist and cut the middle man out, most garages inc main dealers wont touch an auto box anyway as they wont have a clue what to do they are more liley to quote on replace than repair! Ive used easigears a few times at Teesside and they are reasonable and dont take the Mick on price . pretty sure there is somewhere at Team valley also.
