Some advice or any other ideas??
Discussion
I have an itch that needs to be scratched.
I fancy buying another car but want something different.
I have upto £9500, and I want something reliable, fast and as I said different.
I have been thinking of the following a Sierra Cosworth, E30 M3 or even maybe a Series 1 RS Turbo. I think I’m trying to regain my youth by looking at those 3 as I have always wanted one of them but never bought one.
The other options are mk1 Golf GTi, mk2 Golf GTi 16v or G60 Rallye if I can find one.
Other options are a Caterham or a TVR Chimaera.
You guys think of anything else that I might be interested in or have advice on any of the above.
Cheers

You could add TVR Griffith & Cerbera and there's a distinct lack of Lotus on your list. I like the 3.5 ltr Ginetta G33, would love to have one as a track toy, they love to drift.
I don't fancy a Cerbera, but the Griffith is an idea. I thought a decent one would be just over budget though.Going to have a look now.
Cheers
Interesting as the VW and Ford options are I wouldn't be able to bring myself to spend that sort of cash on one. E30 M3 certainly if it would buy a good one. I guess a 968 CS may also just creep into budget these days or the best of the best 944 Turbo/S2. The BMW Z3M Roadster or Coupe would be another option.
You could do your bike test, buy a bike that would blow them all into the weeds and still have £5K left from your £9500...
...or are you too pussy?
ETA: almost everything on your list will have been thrashed, crashed and trashed by now. TVRs apart from the Cerbera will not be in the same league as Cosworths etc. if you want something fast and (dare I say it) reliable. Chims and Griffs and even the big Wedges can be made to be quick but by and large are not.
Stump up £4K for an Impreza WRX STi... but don't buy it from some baseball-capped yoof on a council estate.

Mate have already been down the bike route and have had a ZX6R and 749 and Mrs GMan will not let me get have a bike again.
I've had an STi PPP, and sold my Skyline with NOS a few years ago which Byff will be able to confirm how fast it was.
I fancy a Cosworth or an M3, so I can get rid of this 18 year itch!!!

That M5 looks like a nice car.http://pistonheads.com/sales/894485.htm

Not what I'm looking for at the minute but that is a lot of car for the money.
Before I bought my 6 Series I had a look at a few, but in the end Mrs GMan made me buy the 645ci for looks! I know its not the best looking but she loved it!!!!!! It is OK to drive I suppose.
968 - lovely car but looks pretty dated. You would prob get a sport but not cs at this price. Watch for timing chain issues.
M5 E39 - fantastic car and I currently run one myself. Will serious cost a lot to run but is a fantastic allrounder.
E30M3- brilliant but watch for rust in the bulkhead.
I loved my Golf mark 2 GTI and 205 1.9 GTI's so would settle for one of these in the region of £2k and then buy a caterham with the additional cash - this should get you a crossflow or early K series.
Lotus/VX220 would be the best of both worlds.
TVR would be more a bit of a gamble as there are plenty dogs out there (under the skin eg chassis, suspension) and the cerb would costs as much to run each year.
Could always look at the Z3M coupe bread van.

Right there, that's your problem. Any time a woman calls the shots, she'd better know where the door is Mate have already been down the bike route and have had a ZX6R and 749 and Mrs GMan will not let me get have a bike again.
