Accomodation required - Darlington area
Discussion
Hi again,
Well it looks like my new job in Darlington starts in a couple of weeks. I am looking for somewhere to rent for myself/wife and young son. (Non smokers, no pets). Thinking about Richmond area so posting this on Yorks site too, but does anyone know any nice 2 or 3 bed properties available within travelling of Darlo. Not too expensive, but hopefully near a decent school/nursery. Am searching the local agencies etc but you never know there may be a property owner or expert on here with just what we're looking for.
Regards
Tony H

Hi Tony
I dont know any specific houses but if I were you I would be looking at the villages between Richmond & Darlington, beautiful places & decent prices.
As a starting point check Middleton Tyas, Aldbrough St John, Melsonby, Manfield etc.
If you mention these places to your agent he will know the type of thing you're after & all of these villages have good old fashioned village schools (& pubs) if that's what you need.
Plus you have the added bonus of being close to the Dales for the weekend driving.
PS
No offence Jamz, but surely Sedgefield to Darlington is a pig of a drive at rush hour whereas any of the villages I mentioned its a 10 minute clear run.

Not really... Sedgefield back road... clear (even during rush hour)A1 Cockerton junction, and then through the industraial estate.
It all depends which side of Darlington your're trying to get to.
I can do Sedgefield to Darlington Center in 25-30min at rush hour
Doing the same when its quite will take around 15-20 min
Yarm is decent and approximately 15 minutes away. There is also some decent developments in Darlington and on the outskirts.
Richmond isn't miles away but a little further than I would like to travel.
Out of interest, what line of work are you in? I also work in Darlington at the moment.
