New Car on the Way...
Discussion
After (as yet unconfirmed, bloody insurance companies!) death of my BMW 525i, I put a deposit down on a new car today.
It's not of the unmarked police car variety... Oh and it's supercharged
Should have it sometime next week for good pics of it, otherwise I'll leave it open to guessing
Will be good for a bit of though

10 points to lee111s (My Dad has a 111s Elise S2 incidentally)
Would've got the bonus 5 points if "JCW" followed
Can't wait now!
As much fun as a 400bhp Jag would've been, I think the insurance would have REALLY killed me!
They're brilliant cars - super fun.Would've got the bonus 5 points if "JCW" followed

My cousin has had 2. The original one with the superchager and the newer one with the turbo...both were brilliant cars...I've not been in anything that can accellerate as fast when in 3rd at 2k revs...nice one dude

Just realised who you are. Did you get any decent pics at the January meet? Wouldn't mind something for my desktop.

Great choice. I ran a cooper s for a year and had some brilliant fun in it. The change of direction is unreal. Best thing you can do is have a look at the tuning section on www.mini2.com to identify what can be done to it. I put a new manifold on, changed the gearing on the supercharger, changed the intercooler, put a new less restrictive airfilter on and boy did it change the character of the car. I had it remapped but I regretted this as you definitely do not need to do this as the ECU is soo clever and remaps itself.
With a less restrictive cylinder head (costly at £1000 + fitting) you will see the other side of 250 bhp, but the above mods gave mine 230 bhp. I paid in the region of £1500 for the above which reliably took the car from 163 to 230 bhp (mainly due to supercharger mods and better cooling).
There is also a fantastic specialist in Wallsend in Newcastle called Forsters who race in the mini challenge series. They did most of the work and offered very good advice.
The community on mini2 is really great as well.
I hope you really enjoy the car.

Cheers Hedgetrimmer, I've already been looking at the tuning section but I think i'll be happy enough with the 200/210 from the Works kit as standard on it!
I've seen Mini2 and it does seem to be the best forum for the car!
I'll hold you to that in a couple of months after you have read more about the tuning! I would change the pulley on the works to 15 or 17 % reduction after a couple of months to release an extra 10 bhp and much more torque. The works pulley is 11% reduction on standard, not the often misquoted 14.5%.I've seen Mini2 and it does seem to be the best forum for the car!
