Anyone know what good fireworks displays are on this week? I've done a google search and found a list of displays here: http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/core.nsf/a/fireworks BUT - I'm away working this week and so can't get to the Weds displays. I was hoping they'd be one on next weekend i could take the girlfriend to?

Thanks! smile

I read something about the hexham display on saturday novemeber 8th. I may well be visiting that one if I can confirm it is definately on and worthwhile.

Agreed, shame as it used to be pretty decent years back

Hexham display is always superb and seriously loud. A better venue you will not find either.

Thanks mm, never been to that one before, if the weather holds out, might take a dodge along.

Quite like the look of that myself. How do I find it? The map on the site doesn't mean much to me. Is it near HHC?

Basically just follow the hordes streaming towards it from all over town. The Sele is the big amphitheatre-shaped field behind the abbey in the town centre. Get there in good time as you might end up parked down by the river (e.g. the auction mart) and it's 10-15 mins walk up the hill from there, plus you'll want time for soup and hot dogs and to find a good position. You can take the train too of course winkdrink

Just found out I'm going to miss it for the 1st time in 5 years cos I have to go down country for the w/e frown

Thanks from me too - good advice. I'll be taking the girlfriend along if it's nice. If anyone spots a battered old turquoise MR2, give us a wave. smile

Cheers,
Rob.

Hexham display was excellent...good bonfire, very impressive display. worth the drive over for anyone thinking of going next year.

Parked next to HHC, 5 min walk up to the park...only downside was the traffic gettting out. My advice find a pub for an hour and let the traffic die down..

Maybe next year we could twist the arm of HHC to do something for us, keep us entertained/fed/watered, provide parking etc etc.

Hint hint. beer

I'll be heading up there very soon to talk about a car, I'll see if I can use it as a dealbreaker hehe
