I'm looking into doing an advanced driving course and test but have no idea where and with whome to do it with, in the north east.
Does anyone have any experience of good places to contact about this and details on time and cost??

Do some reading up on IAM, I did their training and test a few years ago. Free of charge apart from the test fee.

Hi, i'd be interested to in doing some advanced driving, would it be okay to do it from 18, or is there an age limit?
Thanks
Ross

Hi R055h's

The earlier the age the better.Im slightly over 21 (actually a lot over 21) but i have enjoyed my driving a lot more since passing the IAM driving test.

Your local IAM group is contactable on www.hartlepooladvancedmotorists.co.uk or Graeme Smith on 01429 275060.They have a younger drivers section on there which may have some offers on.

Any questions you may have before contacting them, feel free to email me.

Regards
Dave

I met up with p3skydave on Tuesday, and we had a little drive about.

Throughly nice chap! Obviously had nothing to teach me and my superior driving skills!!!! LOL!

Thanks for your time Dave. Catch up soon.

There are two distinct types of advanced driver training, learning to drive like a policeman, that's the IAM route or learning to get the most out of your car. The latter is offered by a company operating out of the Elvington airfield track near York. I'm not sure who delivers the training, maybe Ride & Survive or the like.

laugh Cheers Gents,
Your £10's are in the post.

The Lotus Exige S and the BMW M3 CSL are two of the nicest cars i have ever been in and you gentlemen were much safer and sensible than i expected.

'Tvrbob' is right about the company at Elvington. They use the old airstrip for their training and it is right next to the aircraft museum.

The company is contactable on www.driverskills.com and they cover a variety of courses including skid pan training/stunt driving/performance driving/drifting courses/advanced road courses.Could be worth a look at.

Dave
