hello folks,

does anyone know of a decent dealer to sell my mx5 to? someone who's not a rip off merchant who would give me a decent offer? somewhere around the newcastle area but I can travel anywhere in the north east. any advice would be helpful.

It looks straight and proper, why not sell it privately. Your asking price is reasonable. A dealer isn't going to want a car that old and local car sales outlets will rip you off because that's what they do.

Clean it up thoroughly and park it up with a for-sale sticker in the window. MX5's must be one of the easiest cars to sell. A good one should sell itself.

^ +1. Also ebay and/or autotrader.

Nice car for the price, I'd have thought you'd sell no bother.

What they said, you will get nowhere near asking price for a 98 MX5 from a dealer. That looks like a decent car at a decent price, how long have you had it for sale?

hey, thanks for the replies.

It's been up for sale for about 3 weeks now and I've not had a sniff. I think I'm just being impatient as I'm getting an elise as soon as this is sold tongue out

As you said, it is straight, nothing wrong with it and not too many miles for its age. It's on autotrader and pistonheads. I might put it as a classified on ebay and I have put a for sale sign in the window. any amount around the 3grand mark would sort me enough to get the lotus hence asking about selling it to a trade palce, not neccessarily a main dealership.

Hang in there - the market is ssssllllloooowwwww at the moment. My father has been selling his boxster and it took 3 months! Eventually had to drop the price but there you go.

As stated your car looks clean and the price seems about right.

The market is slow I'm afraid. Took me 6 months to shift my last Beemer. How about sticking it on Ebay, with a reserve for the absolute lowest you'd accept and see how you get on. Ended up reducing mine by £750 but it got me the Elise I'd been waiting for smile
