Just read an article in the Herald & Post about the cops doing a full on speeding blitz in the area over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled, and jammers set to kill! wink

They've been on a rampage in thornaby and Boro tonight. A load of marked units and a couple of the unmarked too.

In Great Ayton today near the cemetary, and near my parents house up easby lane. I have never seen them up Easby lane before, mind you, I may have upset a few folk up there, so could have been a tip off job.

I saw one tucked away in a farm gate, on the right coming into Ayton from Stokesley. Not seen them there before.

Traffic cop cruising around Fenham. Never got stopped, but he was paying an awful lot of attention to the car and I maybe paranoid, but I'm pretty sure he seemed to be doing some checks on me.

No problem with that whatsoever, if it helps catch the bad guys !!

It's a shame they're not as supicious of the clapped-out heaps i see on a regular basis.

The "blitz" seems to be a regional thing. They're at it round here too.

GF been caught twice at the houghton roadworks on the A690. They have been hiding a van behind one of the big roadwork signs.

This is what bugs me about the 5-0, she works in a pub in durham town centre. Crazy piss head comes in and tries to stab a customer and the bar staff with a shank he's made out of a pen. They ring 999 2 hours it took for the police to turn up? "Oh he's gone has he? Well give us a ring if he comes back..." What so you can take another 2 hours to come back? You really can see why people get f*cked off when the police have a "blitz on speeding" aka a coffer filling session!

Well just received a letter being told to get my 3/4 size number plate changed or else.
I know it's not legal but ffs after reading Peters tale above it does make you wonder.
I wouldn't be surprised if the van sat there all day, caught no speeders so they looked at any way else to get some revenue

Well they caught the missus twice in 2 days (33 and 36 FFS) and they are trying to do her for not having her belt on, looks like she's going to loose her licence over it all too. Really boils my p!ss as she's just started uni in middlesbourgh and may have to transfer as she wont be able to drive there. If there was actually workmen there and the police were highly visible to deter speeding and therefore protect the workmen I could see the need. But hiding behind signs to catch as many people as possible??? Someone please explain the logic of that? mad

The police response to incidents in the pub she works in is scary (pubwatch or 999) Its that bad they just ring me and I can get there from work in the centre of newcastle quicker than the police respond. Wonder how quick they will do me if i end up bashing one of these scrotes who get off on threatening lasses working on there own in pubs.... rolleyes

a690 at houghton = Northumbria police, Durham City = Durham Police so not really fair to complain like this?

was she speeding??? it appears so and obviously didnt learn lesson the firsst day so quite frankly she deserves a ticket. I agree that she was just over so the cops may have been harsh but fact is she was breaking the law.

She was not wearing he seat belt? everyone knows they should wear it and why they should wear it so again i dont see how you can have an issue if she got a ticket?

Ahh ok then that makes sense? So Northumbria police are exploiting "protecting the safety" of the workers by hiding and filing their coffers with speeding fines when they should be acting as a visible deterrent to speeders. While Durham police are just to incompetent or lazy to respond to a violent individual in an appropriate time? Would you prefer it if I complained like this instead? rolleyes

Please explain to me how you are supposed to learn a lesson from a hidden van that you dont receive the ticket from for 2 weeks???

She was the passenger in an accident last year and is well aware of the value of wearing a seat belt as she still has the shoulder injury to this day. She also wears the seatbelt under her shoulder because of this, couple this with her black uniform and how the hell do they know whether she was or she wasn't???

The 36 one fair enough however the 33 one you could be sitting there with your speedo showing 30 and be doing 33mph, Speedos aint that accurate!

I'm not saying that speeding or driving without a seatbelt is legal or should be ignored by the police. I'm merely complaining that if they dont have the staff to respond to situations in a timely fashion then they shouldn't waste the officers they do have on coffer filling exercises! furious
