I am competing in TOTB this weekend at elvington and have been told that the noise limit is 103 db.

After testing my car last night (@ 119 DB) have been burning the midnight oil and now got down some where close.

How strict are the noise tests at Elvington. ?

Martyn, 119db is a hell of a lot louder than 103db; db is a logarithmic scale so you are more than two and a half times their sound limit. I don't know how strict Elvington is these days, they weren't bothered last time I was there a few years back but I am aware that they had issues with the council last year and at that time they were testing and rejecting cars.

I think you need to add more wadding and modulate the gas flow at the tail pipe. The latter can be surprisingly effective, channelling the gas through several short narrow tubes at the tail pipe exit can halve the db level.

Been tinkering most of last night and this morning and just done a test and between 4.5 k & 5K it was 103.4 db so hopefully that should do

surely the thing to do would be to drop it down and pull a wheelie biggrin
Good luck on Sunday Mart, a couple of my mates are running their Supra's down there too. Are you going down Adam?

I'll be there. smile

Sneaked in to look at the Ferrari people today (and some others) to see how the rich set play.

The audience looked more impressed with the noise my old Wedge made on me way out. Who needs a hundred grand ? hehe
