Dan has moved on to pastures new, (non Lotus), & JPS will continue to operate as normal. If you have any queries call me on 07966 131738 or call Luke at the workshop 0191 4147900.

Here's a query. I had my Sports Racer serviced by you last November and was planning to do the same this year. Just remind me and all the other readers what qualifications JPS has to work as an Independant Lotus Specialist ?

Don't think me servicing my own 18 month old car will help when it comes to selling it.

Sorry, didn't realise sports racing cars were sold with warranties.

The point is that buyers of second hand cars put value on the servicing. There's a lot more value in a car serviced by a dealership or a reputable indie than one serviced by an unknown garage. Being a TVR owner I know that servicing by indies is often better provided you choose one with a solid reputation. Hopefully JPS can now re-establish its reputation as a respected indie.

Had my brakes (disks and pads) and a new manifold put on at JPS 2 weeks ago.
Luke did a great job and I'd happily go back.

Sorry to hear Dan has moved on, I always thought him to be a decent chap who was always willing to help.

Er, this was a genuine question. I've got no problem taking my car to be serviced by a well respected specialist, but by the same token, I don't want just anybody working on it.

This is a genuine question as well, and please excuse my ignorance, but what qualifications should they have?

If its recommendations you're after, they get a huge thumbs up from me. Both Dan and Luke have both been extremely helpful and professional in every dealing I've had with them.

Look, I'm not out to cause any mischief here, but just because I could do an oil and filter change on an SLK doesn't make me a Mercedes specialist. Oh and FWIW, I had no complaints with the service I had at Jude last time smile

ETA

I had hoped that someone from JPS could give us the Companys history and what any of the mechanics experience was. Just something to give me a nice warm feeling about taking my car there for its next service.

My question was genuine and meant with no animosity. Just wonderring what would convincce you of Jude's credentials as a Lotus specialist?

I used to use JPS. I don't any more. My decision pre-dates this latest announcement.

Do you mind if I ask who you use now?
The only other place I would consider locally would be Falcon Engineering.

See what you're getting at. No idea of their history myself but have now used them enough to trust them 100%.

Surely F1 is the Lotus Service Centre of choice

Excellent workmanship but their hourly rate continues to grow and is now astronomical. I see Falcon as excellent work but terrible value for money.

Agree with you 100% Bob, and if money was no object, without wanting to offend anyone at JPS, then yes I would use F1. Unfortunately for me and for most people, money is an object frown
