Share of a track car?
Discussion
Is anyone in the NE, preferably the Durham area interested in a share of a track/hillclimb/autotest car?
The script is, i have a Rev1 Mk2 Mr2 with a dud engine and i'm about to take a Rev3 engine from my Celica (putting a V6 in that) and put that into the Mk2.
The mechanics side of it is fine, it's what i do for a living, the problem is i have nowhere to keep the Mk2 as it can't sit at the garage and i only have room for 1 car outside my flat. I won't get my own place untill next year so have no room till at least then.
My plan is to strip the car down, make it as light as possible and use it for trackdays and the like, this isn't going to be a big budget thing but i'd like it to be as fun as possible. Also if the right engine comes up for not a lot of money i'd put a V6 in that too. But i want to get the car sorted and get some track time in that 1st of all.
Rev3 engine will be around 180bhp and the car maybe 1100kg with a bit of work. Not exactly a caterfield but a good starter for a RWD tracker.
So what i'm looking for is someone with the same interests that could store the car. I'd be looking to do say 4 or 5 trackdays a year in it myself and you'd get to use it whenever you like aswell.
Ideally i'm looking for someone who'd be into all sides of it, mechanicals and driving, meaning we'd be each other's pit crew at trackdays as it were. That's not a must but i'd like that to be the way it turned out.
Now i know this is a complete minefield with ownership and who wants to use it when and who gets priority but you seem a bit more grown up round here so thought i would ask, incase someone is in the same frame of mind but doesn't want to lay out the cash for a track car just now.
If i don't get somewhere to keep it, chances are it'll get flogged for a few hundred quid and i don't wanna do that.
So if anyone's interested, please let me know and we'll see what we can come up with.
Muchos Gracias,
Olie
