Croft Circuit - Open pit lane track day - 7th August
Discussion
I have several spaces available for an open pit lane track day at Croft Circuit on 7th August. The event is being run by The Open Highway and is open to non-members.
The format will be a full day Open Pit Lane event with a 105db limit (that's the loudest option that Croft offer, public track days are 98db). I'm limiting places to between 35 and 40 to make sure there's plenty of track time available.
The event is being run at cost to keep the price per car as low as possible. Price is £165 per car (one driver).
If anyone would like to take this opportunity please PM me via my PH profile and I'll send you the relevant information.

Unfortunately my car is too loud for it, sounds good though!
Are there any coming up with no noise limit?
The noise test isn't "How loud can you get it" it's a very specific test that eliminates pops and bangs and therefore measures only the underlying sound at steady revs. I would be amazed if you have a car that is this loud. The 105 level is a standard race event level and boy are they loud. Are there any coming up with no noise limit?
I have a db meter if you would like to get a measurement using the Croft Circuit test method
Scott, it's mostly Lotus, TVR perhaps the odd Porsche. The rules are simple, overtake on the straights watch your rear view mirror for people trying to get past and drive as hard as you want. As long as you don't act like a nutter all will be OK. We have zero tolerance for anyone acting foolishly so that won't be an issue for this event.

Perhaps you'd be kind enough to test it for me sometime ?
Am I right in assuming you live in Seamer or there abouts? If so I'll be there tomorrow around 4pm. We've met on a few occasions at PH nights and runs, Croft, etc.
First I had the red 280i FHC, then the red 390SE, followed by the current green 400SE.
Maybe I can pop up there on a nice sunny day...if we get any more

Can people please explain to me what they know about this factor?
Trackday insurance covers 1st party only, i.e. your car. Most people don't bother with insurance because the track is one of the safest places to drive a car at the limit. The marshals have no tolerance for unsafe driving, there are no curbs to hit if you over-cook a corner just flat grass to slow you down, all the cars are driving in the same direction, etc., etc. Those people who track regularly will tell you it's infinitely safer than pushing the limits on the road.
Croft Circuit offer track insurance should you need it.

Ok, no worries, but what about the noise thing, are they strict with it?
Yes.
At least 1 car failed the test at the RSOC event at the weekend. The driver had to "modify" his exhaust to pass the test.
I use a scanner so i know when sessions are starting & finishing (so i have the camera ready) and i frequently hear them asking for cars to be pulled in & re-checked.
ETA
They have some major issues with a small minority of local residents so they have to enforce the limits. Sad, but true.
