Guess what i found out today......my pal followed a blue unmarked 335d se into foxwood garden center the other day.....with two in uniform coppers in it......so yes they are using 3 series coupe's in the north east as undercover cars.....

Got pulled a couple of years ago by a Durham plain clothes in a 5 series, on the road from the A1 to Teesside, did feel a bit miffed as he was egging me on a bit through the dual carriage way sections, being right up my arse for about a mile or more before flashing the blues
Question though, if you are followed by a Durham officer into Teeside, for example, does his jurisdiction stop at the county border at all? Or are things just made more complicated if he wanted to make an arrest etc? I would have suspected the latter but would be nice to know.

Sounds like you should be questioning his aggressive/ intimidating driving, if you felt as if he was egging you on...the horrible buggers!!.......i followed anundercover a6 from birmingham to york one year.....think they use these cars as pool cars for long runs, but am sure still carry all the crap needed to pull people......
Was followed by a unmarked darkish brown or maybe blue new shape BMW coupe on the A67 from Yarm to Darlo a few months back. The A67 is a very wide single carriageway road for those who don't know, with a white bumpy line on the nearside and a foot of extra "hard shoulder" if you will. I was passing when appropriate and keeping to a steady "enthusiastic" speed, and the BM was matching me move for move. At this point I had no idea he was undercover plod, hadn't looked closely for repeaters in the bumpers or anything. In the end I decided I was going to let him pass because I was nearing Darlo and there's a few junctions around there, so I slacked off the pace slightly and moved over the white line on the left, gave a quick flash of the indicator to let him know I was yielding and he overtook and moved on.
10 mins later driving through the centre of Darlo I saw him pull over some chavs in a 306 pulling silly manouvers on a roundabout. Top guys, those undercover cops

Erm, it'd be a bit bloody stupid if their jurisdiction ended at the force border... a police officer has "jurisdiction" everywhere. Wouldn't be much use if he was pursuing a stolen car and there were no patrols available to assist in the next county. Not really complicated if he needs to lock up either TBH.Edited by alienbob on Saturday 26th April 10:26

Spotted a dark blue BM coupe the other day on the A19 with two uniformed officers in.
Also that blooming new shape Merc ML in silver just seems to be everywhere I go!
There's a beige one too I think, unless we're looking at the same one and my eyes were deceiving me.Also that blooming new shape Merc ML in silver just seems to be everywhere I go!
