Just had my Patrol broken into in newcastle, near BEL valves factory over by st peters. frown

Not a particularly nice thing to happen, and the feckers went and nicked my watch, a fair amount of cash (circa 1k - it was very well hidden and had just been taken out of the bank to give to someone when i got home), and god knows what else, then for extra misery and rage went and sprayed the interior with what looks like black spray paint! all the leather upholstery has been done, roof lining, carpets, dashboard, sun visors, windows etc. All this in less than half an hour of being parked. It looks very fetching with it's sparkly black glass enriched dashboard now, granite-tastic.

What the fook posesses these cretins to do that to a car? It's not a special car, hardly famous for it's performance and it doesn't look flashy or conspicuous, so it can't be jealousy.

And to top things off they nicked my fecking spare wheel off the back too, with brand new tyre frown

Haven't even got the V5 back with my name on it yet and it's been trashed. Gutted!

May they rot in hell.

I want a TVR.

Thieving personal posessions from your car is ste but vandalising the interior after the theft is beyond me banghead. You haven't pissed anyone off lately have you?

not that I'm aware of, I don't spend a lot of time in that area at all frown

Still waiting on the plod turning up, if they bother.

Car's off to get guesstimated tomorrow, and because some muppet forgot to protect their no claims this year, I've lost 2 years off that. And just when things couldn't get any worse I've gone and stood on my phone which has left it a bit worse for wear.

awesome day, if I was a religeous man I'd punch god in the nuts.

Sorry to hear it matey - some goods will be sold on but others a bit more specialist (spare wheel) so might be worth keeping an eye on flebay, you never know.

Scumbags the lot of em. See if the police help at all.

If it makes you feel better my necks gone off so I'm in constant agony today, so you can have left plum, I'll have right plum and we'll see how far we can walk in opposite directions before something goes snap.

Chin up and all that.

I was going to move in near there, had it all sorted and was going to leave my car on the street. First night I did so, someone threw a brick at the front. Thankfully it was a cinder block which exploded so nothing more than some deep scratches (unfortunately unrepairable though). It's a nice little area, shame about what surrounds it though.

Is it not possible they followed you from the bank knowing you had just withdrawn a large amount of cash.

Cheers guys, agree with all your comments, especially the sweary ones.

No chance of them following me, unless they spotted me in chester le street, then followed me up to newcastle city centre, then onto walker and st peters.

Credit to the police officers involved, the two I dealt with yesterday were superb, as well as one of them being very easy on the eye. Forensic folks came round today, and I think are heading up to the car before the insurance rip it to bits.

Concensus from the body shop is that the interior is 50/50, in so much as half of it will scrub up clean (leather upholstery, dash etc) and half of it will need replacing (roof lining, centre console lid which was ripped off and so on). Few scratches that I'm pretty sure weren't there before, maybe off the brick bouncing off or something, which are also getting sorted. I didn't want to try cleaning it incase the forensics chaps came out.

Every plod I've spoken to has been a little surprised, not at where it happened (quite unsurprised tbh) but at the fact they vandalised after breaking into it, usually just a "snatch and grab" type affair, which isn't half as sexual as it sounds.

Car's going to be away for 2 weeks they reckon, bits to order in and so on.

Pretty farked off that it happened, but I suppose it could be worse.

In the mean time I've got a Ducati 749S arriving very soon which hopefully should keep me both occupied and amused, as I'm temporarily car less.

Glad you're getting sorted Stu,
Great choice of bike, too. I had a 748 a few years ago, real character and very planted. Finally met up with John (bikers nemesis on here) and a couple of his mates the other week. Good lads and very quick. Looking forward to getting back into the biking properly this year.

Excuse me going off topic here but if you read this John (bikers nem.), I haven't been in touch since the ride out due to the crap weather. Didn't come back for a cuppa due to me fingers feeling like they were gonna drop off. Damn vented gloves!, I'll not do that again.

well, good news and bad news really.

Bad news is they've written it off. Can't believe a car that aside of 2 dings was otherwise immaculate could be written off by a tin of spray paint and a nicked wheel but they seem to think so.

The good news (relatively speaking) is they've offered me a reasonable settlement very near to what I paid for the car, and slightly above market rate, I'm still rejecting their first offer out of principle though.

The other good news is I've just about convinced myself that I need a chimaera to soothe the pain of losing the patrol. Whilst I know the patrol was as far removed from desirable to most on here I liked it, and having only had it for a short space of time I was very much still in the honeymoon period and enjoying it for what it's worth.

Still gutted, but no point crying over spilt milk as they say, and after 2 years of driving uncooth japanese rubbish, it's long overdue that I get myself armed with a more PH freindly car.
