Power Surge Last Night 12.30am Last Night

Did any one else experiance the surge ??...my mother reckons two Sky digi box's resulted in house fire's either casuing the surge r resulting in the surge. any way... not sure if its a Sky or FreeView box, but i highly urge people to switch off at the wall. screw the 'leave in standby for updates' slogan.

Does she leave near us? Something strange must've happened last night. When I got up this morning all downstairs sockets had been off but upstairs were all ok. Lots of house alarms going off. Must be the Waldridge triangle
