anyone for clay pigeon shooting?
Discussion
Mate of mine's old man owns the clay shooting ground up at dinnington (near kingston park), and I was thinking perhaps it might be an idea, and something a bit different, to get a few of us together and try our hand at some clay shooting up there if anyone's interested?
Haven't shot for a fair old while and could really use the practice now my shotgun licence is just about done and dusted, and I'm sure I could swing a little bit of discount for us if a few folks were interested in going.
No date in mind, just gauging (see what I did there) interest, might be something worth doing between runs out or whatever.
You don't need to be experienced, or have a licence to shoot there, and it's bloody good fun for those who've never tried it.
Anyone reckon they might fancy it?

piece of cake mate.
1) get form from plod station
2) fill in form, send it off along with countersignatured photos and 50 quid
3) wait for the bloke from plod to pop round and ask you silly questions
4) provided he likes you and doesn't think you'll be using your gun on the neighbours, and provided you have a cabinet that's upto scratch in a decent place in the house he'll give you your cert.
convictions, medical history and the like will obviously affect how likely you are to get it but it's no bother
feel free to drop me a mail if you want to talk about it

I'll get onto them today and see what they say! Prices etc to follow
It's a really nice ground these days, with a nice club house and so on.

Do you need a license to just use a shotgun at such an event or just to own one?
I may be interested, but frankly, I havent got the first idea of what goes on.
sorry mate I missed this. You don't need a licence or a shotty, everything you need will be provided. I may be interested, but frankly, I havent got the first idea of what goes on.
to own a shotgun you need a licence, but you can use one if you're supervised without provided the other person has one.
Gave them a bell, obviously POET's day today so left a message and will give them a bell tomorrow to get some prices and more info for you guys.

Decent ground is steve smith's - not been there a while, I gather Jack's sold to a new fella (your mate's old man?) but still runs the gun shop?
Used to get down there at weekends but I'm out most of the time shooting crows at the moment!
Bunny season's on its way as well so I'll be wheeling out the fun guns again

As long as I'm not out in the fields of Hexham that day then I might be able to make it - i'm happy to loan my gun for a few rounds to anyone without their own etc

Not sure of the details, but I think jack has basically stuck someone else in to look after the business side of things but has kept ahold of it, he's definately still got some involvement anyway, but he's got to be knocking on a bit these days. It's jack's son I know btw, Chris. Used to get down there at weekends but I'm out most of the time shooting crows at the moment!

I know it's been on the market for a long time at a pretty high price for what it is (iirc the land is leased), can't remember the details though
