My wife needs / wants a new motor. Her current car is my old Group N Peugeot 106! It's now done 110k and is 12 years old. It's time for it to retire to the garage to be restored. Her daily commute is 3 miles each way.

So we have no part ex, and 50%/50% cash / finance to buy a new car for her.

Trouble is she has extremes of taste. She really likes the S1 Elise, but as it's a strict two seater it would be ok for now, but if we have any more kids it's going to mean I inherit it! Then she liked the new Fiat 500. Don't know why but hey! Then whilst looking through the classifieds on here, she saw a Cerb. Uh oh!

The reason for retiring the Pug is that it is no longer reliable and it's needing more and more maintenance. So the newer the car is the better, hence a new Fiat 500. The Cerb would be as old as the Pug, but have done significantly fewer miles (but at nearly twice the price of the Fiat wouldn't leave much in the kitty for servicing etc!).

The sensible middle ground would be a TT, but they are a bit dull.

Your assistance / recommendations would be gratefully received.

Cheers

There are a few interesting Alfa's though I'm not sure about their reliability. S2000, high reving so a bit of a pain for longer trips. MINI Cooper S Works or even GP, don't dismiss without trying them.

You havn't said how much you want to spend in total.

How much you'd want to spend on the car and how much you budget on servicing and fuel will help - are we talking 4.5 V8 or a 1.6 fuel economy?

Mike

Just lend her the MK. I would certainly recommend the Mini, although your wifee has always been a bit blokish in her choice of cars so it probably wouldn't fit. Last shape Clio trophy would be another one to think about. Mega fun. Will give you a shout if weather ok at the weekend or next week for drive out in the 7's.
