Dont know if this is allowed, so mods feel free to pull it, no offence intended, and I'm in no way connected with the organisation, so no commercial interests blah blah.

Formula 1 in Newcastle are absolutely first class guys. Everything from their attitude, helpfulness, knowledge, customer care, is the best I've experienced from a garage in a long time. Over the course of the last year I've had various little niggles, fixes etc, some of which are so trivial I'd be embarassed to post them. Every time though, they accomodate it there and then, no hassle, no booking in, just one quick phone call, pop in, job done, quite often with no charge either - I've offered to pay, offered to buy a pint, donation to charity etc etc, and its all 'dont worry about it'. Even bigger jobs which are chargable the price quoted is the price you pay, and it never takes the mick.

What can I say, compared to the missus car, which is a mainstream little engine shopping trolley, has to be booked in weeks in advance by a spotty teenager on the receiption desk. Then we got charged the earth for the most minor of things.

So to Chris, Albert and the rest of the team, a big big thanks from me, keep up the excellent work - from one very very happy customer.

I'll second that. My experience with them is limited. I had a look at a used car there a little while ago, where they were extremely helpful, and unlike most dealers were happy to let a 25 year old loose in an Elise. The car had sold before I could prime the cheque book but I'd have happily done business with them.

This is going to sounds extremely trivial but my only other experience of them was last week. I needed a new tax disc holder for the windscreen and Halford could only sell me polished aluminium guff with Max tt written on the back, so I gave F1 a call and picked up gratuis tax disc holder that evening. When I inevitably need any parts etc. in the future I know who I'll be calling.

Oh and they have some rather nice metal in their showroom to drool over, always a bonus.

About twelve years ago, a mate (Venkman) and I turned up at F1 in a rather ropey 1-litre Metro, to look at a brand-new F355 F1, and a v12 E-type. Rather than being chased away, as would have probably happened in any other 'prestige' (or indeed any normal) dealer we were encouraged to look around the cars, Brian even driving away his 355 in a rather spirited (and very loud) fashion for us to enjoy. A while later they let us have a look around a road-version of a 6R4 that was in for servicing.

Even though at the time there was no way we could afford anything in the showroom (including the free coffee!), they treated us like the enthusiasts we are, and that one day we might come back when were out of school/college/uni....

...Both drive Exige S now.

Both from F1

I have had plenty of visits to F1 since owning my 1st elise some 5 years ago, always extremely helpful, very accommodating and not to mention very knowledgable.

I agree from Chris, Albert & Craig in the workshop and Peter and Russell in the showroom to Diane and Lynn in the office I have never received a more friendly, helpful & warm welcome in times of such stress as when the car goes into them.

Keep up the great work F1

Totally agree with everything said above - nothing is too much trouble for them.

Even when I had a problem but the workshop was shut, Brian himself sorted the car out.

All round top blokes.

Haven't used these guys yet, but its a rare treat nowadays to hear so many positive comments on a garage. Will certainly bear this in mind when its time for the next service.

My R500 is in there at the moment for a head gasket replacement and they have been excellent to deal with during the process. Very knowledgeable and honest guys who have been very accomodating given that it has taken some time for the head to be returned from the engine builder. Will be taking my other cars there in the future and it has the added benefit of being within walking distance of my office! The showroom is aways worth a druel.

So where do you work then? - I'm on City Road next door to Tyne Tees, so also within walking distance. I saw yours in the workshop yesterday.

how odd!

the times i've dealt with them, they've been uninterested at best, at worst, pure arses.

the head engineer chap told me the P6000's were the Lotus recommended replacement for my OEM fronts (hohohoho has he ever driven a car with them fitted?) the second time they were dismissive to the point of extreme irritation so I went to JPS in blaydon, and the last time they filched me £145 for one Bilstein shocker...(which I later had fitted at JPS)

interesting to see that they are so feted here...smile

Hi minimax, thats really odd, I wouldnt have believed we're talking about the same garage/people, I couldnt for the life of me imagine them being as you've described. I've also heard mixed feelings about JPS, although in fairness I've never personally had dealings with them, so can't back this up in any way.

Gobsmacked at your views on f1 though.
