Just wondering how many folks on here have a 2 wheeled habit really. I've seen a few folks posting in Biker Banter who I've only later realised are from the NE region.

I'm currently bikeless but should be on a new bike pretty soon, Not quite decided on what I want yet, there's a few on the list smile

Many others around here? Been any PH based rides out in the area? perhaps we could see if there's any interest in here and the yorkshire section in having some rides out next year?

Just a thought or two smile
Cheers,
Stu.

Stu, I'm not in the area at the minute, but regularly clock into the North East forum - will be back up there permanently in a copule of years.
Yes I've got a bike (TL1000S) and used to spend all my weekends going over the Hartside Pass/Lakes/Shap/Devil's Bridge/Hawick area, but as I say not for a few years now.
It would be good to get a ride out sorted, (I don't think I'd be able to keep up with the car groups with my little Cooper!).
Oh, and I'm off to the bike show tomorrow - I'll let you know what's good (and part of my lottery win would go on!)

Alright Stu, me and a few friends are bikers. We live in Cramlington and are out quite a bit in the summer, proper fair-weather friends like, but don't get me started on a rant about why I won't go out in the rain. We're usually local on a sat, e.g. up westgate hill for lunch then out to rothbury, then if I'm not out on sat night I'll get the bike nice and clean for sunday, hartside, devils bridge etc. To be honest the last 2 summers have been quiet due to me and my mate both taking our 1st steps onto the property ladder, but I just treated myself to a new bike in september so will be right back into it next year. Going to do my 1st trackday, you done one? What sort of bike you after, sports or something else? Anyway you're welcome out with us at some point or if theres a few people on here want to meet we'll be up for that. Obviously if you're from durham or somewhere quite far away you'll probs use different routes to us which renders this post of mine a bit pointless, never-the-less you know theres people up here. Cheers, Mark.

Cramlington. I'm about Five miles further North than you.

I'm always at Rothbury.

Alright B.Nemesis, Very nice bike, like the pinstripes got'em on my '99 R1 red/white/black. Can't bear to part with that one. Just found a GSXR750 20th anniversary that had sat in a dealers for two years, 0 miles. Bought it for £5999. Nearly paid £8195 2 year ago for one. You'll notice it if you see it around 'cos its a K5 model but its gone on a 57 reg. Its got the 1985 paint job and a numbered plaque on the headstock. I'll take that one to the grave!!smile
You must have moved out past Bedlington or somewhere have u? My mates moved to Acklington, a new build. Wouldn't mind getting out of Cramlington myself, its brimming with chavs now!!!laugh

Stakeford.

I've noticed a clean 99 RWB R1 at Rothbury a couple of times this year, I always go and have a look in case it's the one I used to own.

I'm usually with a couple of mates, One rides an 04 ZX10, and the other a 99 Marlborough R1.

Nearly always at Kielder or Rothbury.

I'll see you next year maybe? I'm not easy to miss, 6ft 4", Alpinestar leathers and a Black lid.

My 99 R1.

Track Bike at Mallory, September this year.

Yeah We'll be out a lot more next year. Usually at rothbury on sat afternoon, or for a quick bacon sarnie run sometimes. Usually the lakes on Sundays, like to make a day of it.
Bound to bump into you next summer or message me if you're out one day. Better still if a few people on here want to sort something that'll be good. Its the wrong time of year for organising ride-outs, but another post like this in the spring should see a few people out.
My R1 was from Ian Bells originally and owned locally. I don't wanna put reg on here, but an easy way of knowing if it was yours is that the first owner put harris triple yoke clamps on it, but removed them before selling it. I still have the harris booklet in the service history. I met a neighbour of his up the hill one day who said it wasn't tracked, but its that old now am not really bothered anyway. Am looking to do my 1st trackday next year anyway and it'll be on that. I just love the torque of the bike, plus its the longest I've owned anything (5 years) so I'll just keep it now.

I'll send you a PM next year then.

Was the first owners name Peter?

Ian Bells is where I get my bikes from, been going there for 26 years, Ali normally looks after me.

John.

Nearly forgot, a mate of mine, Darren from Newsham Motorcycles does all sorts for me too. Great lad, knows his stuff.

Not sure who were 1st or 2nd owners, its had 3 then me. Last owner was Stephen Finney from south sheilds (although I bought it from kens) so am guessing unless he bought it off you it wasn't yours.
I've dealt with Darren form newsham bikes, He's done a couple of mots for me a while back, also, some of my mates used to go out with 'im a bit. I'm 30, but my mates are all ages, Paul clough 34, Andy Robinson 35 (owns A.Robinson performance autosalvage, Bedlington.). Another very good friend of mine is Kelvin Moore, has owned all sorts. Used to have a redbull thunderrace, Durex GSXR1100, etc. And Shaun Love, who used to go out with a lad called Keith (YZF750) from up your way. Used to meet Keith and them at the wagon, Ponteland on saturdays. Bonkers them lot though, very fast. They always do rothbury, kielder, etc.
Anyway good to talk to you, get in touch next spring an' al see u about!
Cheers, Mark Watson, aka Ratty.smile

I know Keith from here, he bought some race bodywork off me a couple of years back. Has he still got that Red Porsche.

I know a couple of the names that you've mentioned, I'm better with faces, I know a lad that used to have a Red Bull Thunderace, he had a bad crash a couple of years back, on the Scotts Gap road, Hit sheep on his Blackbird, he's called Steve though.

Another mate sold his Red Bull Thunderace to Kens, and got a R1 from them, he's from Alnwick.

Anyway, cheers for the crack. smile

John.

Surname same as those Tripple clamps your R1 had.wink

Not sure if he's still got it, red 944 with big wheels wasn't it.
He's a good bloke, me mate came off his fireblade (that was shauns then mine too before hand) when we were out with them, clipped a dry stone wall. We left the bike at a farmers and keith took me up for it with his trailer that night. We owe him a favour for that.
Aye anyway, cu about next year. Off for some tea then round to a mates for a couple of shandies and top gear. Thats the tv program, not top quality illegal substances!!laugh

You and wedgie sprung to mind. (Wedg1e that posted above me that is, not suggesting that I was considering doing the schoolyard underpants hoisting trick on you hehe )Love the R1 btw, beautiful livery.

Great to see quite a few bikers amongst us in the NE section, definately sounds like an idea doing some rides out or something, especially as we've got so many great roads to the north, south and west of our region, bit wet if you go east wink

I've found it very difficult to keep myself away from westgate road lately, especially as M&S (the bike shop, not marks and sparks) have a white 848 in lick

Sounds like we could get a good crowd together if everyone's up for it, maybe do a couple of smaller runs out once the weather perks up next year with a view to maybe doing one or two longer runs out?
I know we've got biker banter but i figured it would be a good idea to test the water and sort some regional stuff out. Definately the wrong time of year to be thinking of runs out, just testing the water for next year really I suppose as it'd be cool to go for good blasts out.

Bring on 2008 then biggrin

Cheers,
Stu

Anyone else make the bike show? There was a stunning white Duc there too! Any a stunning blonde, and a stunning brunette! (All this on just the Ducati stand!). I'll post a pic when I get them off the camera.

Met Biker's nemesis yesterday, after getting well and truly lost thanks to my GPS not knowing the difference between North and South / bedlington and cramlington, stupid thing. Good to meet you John, top bloke, and cheers for coming to find us hehe. Quite taken by one of the R1's in Ian Bells place, think I'll be back up there before long smile
