K series experts
Discussion
Please can anyone recommend a k series expert in the Newcastle area. The obvious one is Formula 1 but I don't know much about them.
I have a caterham r500 which decided to blow coolant out of the pressure cap on the expansion tank. At first I thought it might simply be an airlock/failty pressurecap but today I openned the cap and could smell exhaust gases. Temperatures are all fine but I think it may be time for another head gasket.
Are there any specialist garages out there who you would recommend?

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with Dave Andrews (DVA Power) who recently rebuilt the engine and he noted that there was a risk of porosity of the head, it may be built of cheese like metal with holes in it! In order to rectify the head he noted that it would need to be dipped in a special substance that forms in the porous areas.
However, he noted that the valve clearances on my head a very small (257 bhp at 8800 rpm out of a K series means a very high lift) and only an expert should touch it. Therefore I need a k series expert who is use to dealing with engines at this level of tune.

Many of these smaller garages claim to be what they are not.

That aint going to last long. How often do you rebuild it?I would go and visit each of the garages mentioned and talk to them about your requirements. That way you can see each of there set ups too.

Try HWR Motorsport near Ponteland. They look after my Duratec Caterham and many other road/race Caterhams.Brian or Jeff on 01661 821879
Edit: Doh! Just realised it's you Carl. Back in the fold then? - James

That aint going to last long. How often do you rebuild it?Once a month! It will only last around 10k between a refresh so long as mainly road miles. There are a number of R500 out there with nearly 20k before rebuild but I think Rushian Roulet is safer.
