Mountable Action Camera
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Been looking at one of these mountable camera's, thought it may be good for run or two. Found one on Firebox.com called the "ATC2K Action Camera from Oregon Scientific" they retail for £99.99. Does anyone know anything about them or can you suggest a better one for a similar price.

Cheers for that Chris...
That looks so much better quality then the one I pick out but obviously I would need a Digital Video Camera too making it a little more expensive.
See the one I pickout was completly self contained and just writes directly to a internal 2GB SD memory card. Lower res too... hmmm it a bit of a quandry really!

I have a seprate bullet cam and DV Camcorder. For quality results its the only way forwards.
From what I've seen, the direct recorders will give you a picture, but sound and vision can suffer quite badly. Was it then worth £100.
Save for a bit longer and put the money towards a decent setup.
The camcorder doesn't have to be DV, rather it must have the facility to record from an external source (other than it's own lens).

Is there some kind of dog cam sponsorship deal going on here?
Why Dog cam... are they popular with doggers???
PS: I'm not suggesting thats why anyone here may have one (phew...back pedal...back pedal...back pedal).

That'll be my fault then. I got one a couple of years ago, and then went hooning here. I was then asked the same question you've asked.
Dog Cam just happened to be where I got mine, and were doing a good deal. Ever since buying it, they have given great service & help. Its been on normal runs, Trackdays (inc Nurbergring) etc, never let me down and gives excellent results.
As for dogging, that's a different site altogether, www.dog.....

The ATC2K has, unfortunately, a fixed focus lens. Anything closer than about 20 feet is in focus (bits of your car or bike etc. along with the backs of vehicles you come up behind) but anything further away is slightly blurred.
At best it gives an indication of where you are going but the detail is not very good.
They are subject to vibration and can turn themselves off unless you modify them.
I would personally look for an alternative unless you specifically want a self-contained unit for strapping to your helmet, which is what they are designed for, and quality is not your prime concern.
