Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some info, I recently purchased a 04 111S which has a Sparco Detachable Steering Wheel which had been installed by the previous owner.

However the horn is not working on it and I can only presume that the horn has not been connected when it was installed... I'm not sure why.

What I want to know is, how easy is it going to be to get a working horn with this type of steering wheel, I really like the wheel but I can only presume that the car will not pass a MOT without a horn. Will I have to go back to a standard Elise Wheel?

Cheers Guys

Hi mate.

Have you go a pic of the wheel?

Is it a centre horn or thumb horn position? either ways you should be able to get the horn buttons working no problems, the wiring you will probably find is already there, just needs connecting up.

Also, you say it's a removable wheel, don't suppose you know the name of the boss used for it? (raid are a common one).

Worst comes to worst you can always have the horn through a switch but getting it to work with the wheel buttons isn't a problem normally.

Cheers Stu,

After I posted last night I went out and popped the centre cap out of the wheel (it is a centre horn by the way) the wiring was there and appears to be connected. I think the problem must lay at the sounder end of things. I hoping that it is easy to access through the removable front access panels.

Does anyone know?

The wheel is a Sparco 353 Steering Wheel by the way.

You may need to get under the car and remove the front undertray to get at the horn. I replaced mine with an air horn as the standard horn is useless.

IIRC the horn is mounted to the crash structure on the drivers side.

you can just make out the horn at the far side of the picture.

Designer Thanks for that... thought it wouldn't be straight forward. Just spoke to Chris at F1 sounds like a job for him, even if I get to the sounder I guess there is no garantee that the problem lies there.
