From 3:15 onwards for me...

Will be there in the Elise (Grey, silver stripes) if you see me in the carpark and want to say 'ello.

Lucky you know... we're down the the final.... 2000! hehe

Can't comment on Durham, but the Team Valley track isn't going to prepare you for Teeside. It's an indoor track, quite tight and the karts are pretty slow.

Whereas, Teeside is outdoor, quite quick, very physical and the karts are twin engined pro-karts which will do around 60 mph at full chat, although it's doubtful you'll get them that quick round Teeside unless you use the full track including extension, in which case you will and it grabs your attention somewhat I can tell you.

Teeside is a great track, with a variety of corners, may favorite being the slightly banked 180 deg top turn (like to call it the Parabolica sp??) which if you get your entry and line right you can take full throttle.....you'll have forearms like popeye after 20 minutes on the limit round here. It's mint!

If I was you I'd give them a bell and see if you can do an arrive 'n' drive over the weekend. something like £15-20 for 15 minutes track time.

I'm no expert, am not a karter, but Ive been round there 4 or 5 times. Smoothness is the key, break into the corners not before them, don't slide or you'll scrub your speed off, don't try to take the chicane infront of the pits at full throttle (it can be done with big balls) but it's off camber and your exit speed will be too high to take a tight line into the next right hander and someone will be up your inside.

The chicane after the next right hander can be straight-lined by using a small amt of kerb each side and taken full throttle, but you'll need to be quick on the breaks the other side.

Hope that helps, have fun and I guarantee you will feel like you've been runover the next day!

Cheers

You are gonna hurt....big time.

Your forearms will ache after two laps, then your hands will ache from gripping the wheel. Your shoulders will feel it next but the pain will pale into insignificance when you realise that you're the slowest person on the track and you've just been lapped.

If you've never karted at Teeside before, get some time on track and do some practice - it'll pay off learning the track beforehand when there's no pressure.
